Google ads covering up drop down menus

Anyone else notice this happening? Certain ads, particular the Chrysler ads that are showing right now (because of Tommy's "Chrysler" thread) , cover up the drop down menus from the tabs above. Its as if the menu is behind the ad. Irritating....

Just noticed this to be a Firefox only quirk.

Since yesterday afternoon, I wasn't able to connect to this site.
Not sure what this is all about.

I get that from time to time too....I suspect it is something along the way in the network that does this.....

Trying to do a search and the stupid ad gets in the way?! A refresh just makes the ad start over...what to do?

I had this problem on IE too Jacko...seems to be random, because it's not all the time.

not random. Sounds like you are being served Flash-based adverts. I never get to see them since my IP is from Mexico and we are not in the specified target group of those campaigns. I didn't even know that stuff was showing up as I'm only served text adverts here. It has to do with how CSS/div and objects are rendered by the browser. I'll check if there is a workaround available to the javascript in the menu script.

edit: the problem is discussed here.

I'll probably move the advert block into the top navbar, in a separate row, above the menus. Adobe.com uses DHTML menus (like these) over Flash with success, but I read that this causes problems in Safari (which versions I don't know) which would just piss-off the Mac fans, and they are already a little punchy, so that's not a good idea.

Same with me on IE. Have never taken the time to notice which ads cause it.
