My brother lifts weights and he advised me to work with weights slowly. This method is effective in building lean muscle and not bulk. Also, I would think lifting weights quickly and switching around would lead to some type of injury such as a pulled muscle, not to mention dropping a dumbell etc.

I just spoke with my trainer and asked her about MET. She has heard of it, but it's not her cup of tea, meaning it's not how SHE trains people. Basically, it's more of an endurance/resistance type of training - you're not going to build much lean muscle lifting those lighter weights nearly as much as you are lifting heavier weights. For instance, I lift a lot of 20 pound weights (times two hands), sometimes even 35 pounds depending on the movement (rows are done with 35 pounds) and you simply can't lift that heavy when you're doing it at a fast pace. The MET method is more about jacking up your metabolism and burning fat. My trainer likes to keep the cardio as cardio and the weight training as weight training. If you want cardio - go take an aerobics class she says!
But when it comes to lifting, it's all about power and strength, nice and slow.

I was finally able to weigh myself today after awhile of not having access to a scale, since I refuse to have one in my home.
![]() I've lost another 5 pounds! It could be more since I actually weighed myself right after I ate. So that is a total of almost 50 pounds!
