I need to get back in the groove here with working out. What can I do to motivate myself???? When I get home from school I'm exhausted and have no desire to start jumping around or doing anything but take a nap. At night I have to make dinner, correct papers, take a shower and go to bed. And forget about getting up earlier...I can barely handle 5:30. Gotta get outta this rut I'm in...only a little over a month til I gotta put on the bikini!

they just were NOT going to go on....The vest was even funnier...I looked like strained stitching on a turkey! Good thing I had another black pair of pants that had "stretchy waist" sewn into them..![]() At any rate, I am staying pretty steady stretching, then walking on the treadmill and using hand weights on a near-daily basis.....A solid hour on the treadmill and 2.5 miles. I do it first thing in the morning....but I am lucky..I don't have all the responsibilities that Nancy/maestranba has.... I am eating better now too....well, mostly... ![]() |

Oh I agree, it really IS difficult!
I took a week off in Oct to go to Punta Cana and got sick as soon as I got home, really sick too. Lost another week there and when I got back, it was like starting from scratch. Couldn't lift half of what I had been lifting, I felt like a baby! Then went to Playa in Dec so took another week off. And of course, got sick when I returned and lost another week. I pushed myself back quicker this time though, who has the time to waste? Not me! When I broke my thumb and had surgery last April, I was told to be out for at least 8 weeks. I was back in the gym two days after surgery doing cardio (step/treadmill) and was back with my trainer 2 weeks after surgery. I had to hold the weight in my right hand in a really usual way (between my pointer and middle finger ) but I was not going to lose 8 weeks. Can you even imagine how hard it would have been to come back after being away that long? ![]() |

). My neighbor teaches a class at my gym and she has been hounding me to go, but I am just not the yoga type, I'm too hyper. I'm more of a pilates person, even though I'm not too fond of that either (but I have taken it). But I guess it can't hurt to at least test the waters. As for crunches - I just bought a weight bench the other day, with the leg attachment. My trainer taught me how to do some fabulous abs on that thing, and that's what I bought it for. I'm looking at it as I type - haven't used it yet today - but I'm looking at it! ![]() |

If I had to go at 5pm, there's no way I'd make it! But I went this morning. Have to admit, it should have been a lifting day but I just wasn't up to it. Did 20 min of interval training on the elliptical, then another 20 of medium intensity. So 40 min of cardio doesn't suck. Tomorrow, I will get to the weights. Swear.

I used to never go at night, but there's this one step instructor that teaches advanced classes, and they are on Mon. and Wed. nights at 5:30pm. I can't take regular step anymore, it's just not enough of a work out, I need the challange of advanced step - and she is SO good at her job so it's worth going. You snap out of the tired once you get there, and I always wake up with the mindset that I am going at 5pm and even if I have to walk away from my desk mid e mail, I'm going!
![]() And no, getting the cardio done does not suck, doing it kinda does! It's so easy for me to do the weight training, that's what I have Grace for but I really have to push the cardio out (and I SO need it) - my knees are just badddd and I think I may now have a stress fracture in my right shin from pounding on the damn step! ![]() |
