I had my baby girl on October 21 and gained 50lbs. I'm only 4 pounds away from my pre-pregnancy weight and leaving for Playa on Saturday!

I am going to get the cookbook this weekend. (Thanks for the tip Roni)

We bought a good treadmill and I have been hitting it every night (less net surfing ) for 45 minutes pretty hard.

I have hand weights - I think I will go buy a weight bench as well.

Good for you Tammy! Keep up the good work.

Maybe I should try South Beach. I am not very good at 'eating plans' though. I can't seem to stick with them for long.

We just bought our weight bench at Wal Mart, just make sure it is a good stable one, I think we paid about $70 a few years ago. We keep meaning to buy a weight rack but three years after setting up our home gym, the weights are still sitting on a mat in the corner.

Speaking of which I have been neglecting my weight routine lately...but it's spring, gardening and playing ball counts, right? right?

I am in the process of putting down 6 yards of topsoil and 6 tons of rock in my backyard. I worked at it for 6 hours on Tuesday, over 100 wheelbarrows full of dirt that had to be shoveled in and then shoveled out as you can't dump dirt over a retaining wall. I don't think I have ever been so sore in my life - I'm more sore today than yesterday! I did however, lose 3 pounds that day so it was worth it!
Maybe a landscpaing job would be a better weight loss tool than a desk job. Hmmmmm...........

Actually that other thread started me thinking and I am working on inventing a brush that attaches to power tools or maybe a weed wacker. You girls will never have to scrub a toilet again.

So, I think I'm going to give the South Beach diet a try. I got the new Supercharged book that has exercisese to do along with the eating program. I may not be able to stick to phase 1 as hard core as you should, but the book does say that is more for people who want to lose a significant amount of weight, but if you are only trying to lose around 10 lbs you can probably just start at phase 2. Which is what I need. I have some summer clothes that don't fit as well as they should and I need to get into them soon, so I'm going to use South Beach for help. I'm going to try to see if I can stay close to phase 1 for the first 2 weeks, but some days may be more like phase 2.

I need to do something too - I am stuck. I have 8 pounds to go, which fluctuates from 6 pounds to 10 pounds on any given day - and depending on how much sushi I eat! But that 8 pounds for someone else is like 80 pounds for me, I have...issues. Something has to change, but I am not one to stick to any set diet plan, just not my cup of tea. I am eating properly, but just not eating the right things at the right time I think...and I also need to add in more cardio, that I know for sure.

Hmmm...wonder if my left arm weighs 8 pounds? I think I might be able to do without.......

I hear ya Shammy! I lost some of my 'holiday weight' but just can't get the last few pounds off, and the extra few I had wanted to lose long ago. I started tracking my stuff on Daily Plate and I think I eat too many carbs, even if they are the good ones, so I'm going to try cut down on those, and hope the guide of South Beach will give me a boost. Gotta try something. Oh, and I have to kick up my workouts too. I was really good before I went to FL a couple weeks ago, but still was losing nothing. I haven't done as much since I've been back, so that definetly doesn't help. But I'm getting back on track for sure this week.

I think there is something positive to be said for finding an eating plan that works for you and sticking with it. Personally, I have been amazed by the proportion of people who have found the South Beach Diet helpful. I do not follow it strictly, but I am a low-carber so that is where my bias is. Others do well with other plans. I also refuse to think of any of this as a diet. For me, it is not, it is rather the way that I have to live in order to be healthy and hopefully to prolong the number of years of high-quality life (absent the proverbial getting hit by a truck )

In fact, I have started referring to Costco as the Protein and Fat store , stopped by there yesterday and loaded up on chicken, beef, fish, hi omega-3 eggs, veggie breakfast sausages and andouille sausage.
