Well, we're back again to wondering if low-carb is the best and again it's proven so. Those of us that lose weight and feel better on low-carb can certainly attest to it.
No surprise here. |

From the science point of view...Low carb is not the best for everyone...No, absolutely not...
Many people need to be on the low fat diet because their lipid profile (blood cholesterol and triacylglycerides) goes up with addition of cholesterol (only found in animal products) or saturated fat. Therefore, there is not one solution for everyone. If it were that easy, we would have been figured that out years ago ![]() Everyone has different genes that create infinite possibilities for differences. Some people do well on the low carb diets, others don't. Therefore..you can try and see what works, and please work with your doctor and/or a Registered Dietitian...a professional. Most other folks that are promising you an easy way out are out to separate you from your money. |

![]() I hear ya...sorry ladies. I thought a little humour was in order as I too have been seriously sloughing off the ole 'watching what I eat' thing. But the carefree summer days of mayo laden salads and cheeseburgers and beer are coming to and end....ten pounds by Playa time for me! I vow! ![]() ![]() |

Here it is again ... the dreaded thread. In all honesty, there have been times that I avoided this thread out of guilt.
But now that I will be in Playa in four weeks, I am once again turning over a new leaf. Plus, I'd like to be actually working on my New Year's Resolution before January. So, I found the eliptical machine at the gym and re-learned how to use it. Lasted a whole 20 minutes! And today I am resolved to eat healthy. For some, it's one day at a time, for me, it's one meal at a time. ![]() Pray for my family as they suffer through the next few days with me while I go through sugar withdrawal. ![]() |

Yeah, I hear ya. I booked my trip back in February. I've actually gained weight since then. I want to lose 10 lbs before I go. In truth, I have more than that to lose, but at least all my summer clothes will fit better. Plus, I am hoping it will jump start/motivate me for when I get home.

After taking about a year off from eating right and exercising, I've been back at it since late winter 08.
I have an elliptical and I try to use it at least 3 time a week for 15-20 minutes going at it pretty hard. I eat low calorie all week and then splurg on the weekends. The hardest thing for me is beer! I love to drink beer and so I have to limit myself during the week. We move to a new building in May and the gym will not be up and running until this winter and when it is, I plan to get my to my old habits of working out 5 days a week alternating cardio with upper and lower body weight workouts. ETA - I am a habitual calorie counter and can't NOT do it now. I don't really believe so much in the low carb lifestyle. I've know too many people that lose and gaine lose and gain doing it. I DO believe in "whatever works"...so if it works for you: Go for it! ![]() Last edited by TXMichelle : 5 Days Ago at 01:34 PM. |

Ahhh, the thread is back
. I've been doing ok with diet & exercise this summer, with the exception of the last week. I still exercised, but have been quite the pig. Trying to get back on track though. Going to Playa in a little over 2 months, so that's some more motivation. I have been tracking what I eat on the Daily Plate, and like the site alot. The message boards are great for motivation and suggestions too. So, hopefullly between there and here I can reach my goals! |
