Hayyyyyyyyyy.........
![]() To the top again with this! ![]() Grace (my trainer for those that don't know) informed me today that she has a new toy kettle bells. She also said that my session tomorrow will consist of using these wonderful...things. She told me she has been using them since last weekend and she is sore in places she didn't know existed. That is not so good news for me I fear! It's always a great idea to shake it up and change your workout so of course I'm game, but just wondering if anyone here has used them? This is what they look like:

Hey Shammy!
I have not used those, but seen others using them at the gym. There was one woman doing some thing picking one up and lifting across her body over her head and I was worried she was gonna knock herself out. I don't think I'll be trying that one.

Thanks Kim!
So I conquered kettle bells today - was not bad at all, I enjoyed it actually! Grace wants a report tomorrow on how sore I am. I think I'll be OK though - she seemed to be struggling more than I was!

It's a totally different work out than using free weights, not even in the same realm really. You use momentum to work with them, unlike how you train using free weights. There are specific routines (I guess is the word?) you do when you work with them, a lot of swinging. I thought it was fun, and I appreciated the change up in my typical lifting routine. Didn't lift them over my head this go round, chest level was as high as we got. But it was my first time working with them so you have to get a feel for how it all goes before you move on to other exercises.

I've been very good. Doing Zumba an average of 6 times a week! Trying to eat right, sometimes not so good! I love food! I love shopping for food, cooking and eating, even reading about food! Good grief! But I still lost a couple pounds the last 2 weeks.

I bought one of these 'Ripped' series workout DVDs last weekend, with instructor Jari Love (she is from Calgary). I bought the '1000' one.
Get Ripped! Workout - Lose weight, get results in weeks! It is the BEST workout! I am sweating buckets after and my muscles are trembling. She is very encouraging without making me want to scream at her or throw something at the TV. ![]() ![]() And she incorporates lots of stretching throughout to avoid pulls or strains. There are four of them, everyone doing a modified version of the workout so you can pick your ability level. Also a step can be used for most of the exercises. I highly recommend it!
