One other point is to eat often. When I'm in my best shape, I'm eating 5 to 6 times a day, with a balance of Carbs and protien and I try limiting the fat to the good stuff. And for those of us who must have creamer or half and half in their coffee, Darigold makes a great fat free creamer. |

Count me in!
After being an exercise fanatic my entire adult life, I had a backslide over the past year. Any number of excuses -- no really good reasons, isn't that always the way it is? I have been heavy for quite a while, but the lack of exercise really tipped me into uggo land. I have decided to wake up extra-early in the morning to do my exercise first thing, before any distractions pop up. Realizing I am basically starting from scratch, I am using the "Walk It Off with George!" exercise DVDs I got for $2 each at a close-out stores. Actually, the program is perfect for me, because the moves are very basic, and the instructor keeps the pacing brisk but not deadly. It's a solid half hour of cardio, with 8 minutes of warmup/cooldown on each end. George Foreman is also very good -- lots of positive messages that are sort of corny -- but at 5:30 in the morning, I guess I am susceptible, because I think it is the greatest thing to have him say "I am your friend! Looking Good! Me and the Team will never leave you!" Yeah! So while we can and should be tough on each other, let's not forget how great positive reinforcement can feel, too. You are all great to be taking these steps for yourself! I hope I can keep it up, too! Also, I am restricting myself to 1500 calories a day. This is what a 150-pound woman needs to maintain weight. Considering that I am way over 150, I felt it made sense to just train myself now to eat for a weight I would be thrilled to re-achieve. I'm keeping a food journal -- something about writing it down that really helps you stay on the straight and narrow. Also, I think I made a mistake in the past to incorporate my exercise calories into my equation (ie, I exercised the equivalent of 750 calories in that session, so I can eat 750 more calories than usual!), so I am only marking that I did exercise. Other than that, I'm sticking to 1500. I am trying a little trick in behavior modification that I thought of. I have created a "LIVE STRONG" sort of bracelet for myself. On one part I have written, in Sharpie, 'LIVE HUNGRY". I have also written 5:15 - 1500 - 45 (for waking up at 5:15, eating 1500 calories a day, and exercising 45 minutes). If I think a food-naughty or slothful thought, I snap myself on the wrist. Shock therapy! Ummm............ Everybody keep it up! Last edited by MWC : 01-02-2007 at 02:30 PM. |

Have you ever tried the soy ice cream? It is high glycemic, but it does not have the fat. I am not an ice cream person so this suffices for me, an ice cream person might think otherwise![]() |

For the first time, I don't need a diet, as I was sick almost all the time, and ate NOTHING of the juicy things...and no alchol, I was taking antibiotics. I feel asleep the night of teh 31st and missed the big party. ![]() |
