Diet and Exercise Accountability Thread
I know many of us are working toward shedding that holiday fat and getting into our swimsuits without the use of a shoe horn. I've found it sure helps to have someone to hold you accountable and to whine to. So here's the thread for that.
I did get on the scale. I have 8.8 lbs to lose. Better then 10 I guess. I started the day with egg beaters w/canadian bacon.........yummy. I have my salad packed for lunch and my celery with laughing cow cheese for my snack. Dinner will be rosemary salmon, salad and broccoli. Spin class and weights in the morning. |

I'll jump in on this one. As soon as we move, on the 15th or so, Rob and I will start to work with a nutritionist. She has been working with our friend and her son for the past 4 months or so. Collectively, they have lost over 80 pounds. She comes to the house once a week, weighs you and then adjusts your diet accordingly. Nothing crazy or unhealthy, no drugs or suppliments. I am looking forward to trying this out. We are moving into town with the intent to walk everywhere instead of being tied to the car. We will be able to walk to school. the grocery stores, the beach and work. I can't wait. I'll let you know how it goes.

I started my diet today, my goal is to shed 65lbs by April. I turn 40 in April and want to return back to my 20 year old wieght to celebrate!!!
I had a piece of toast for breakfast and 2 smaller slices of pizza for lunch. I have decided that i wont completely limit what i eat but will limit the portion size. i would normally have had 5 or so pieces of pizza so its a good start. I will start doing about an hour a day on my excercise bike today for the physical aspect and that should help alot. My best friend weighed about 340lbs and got down to 260 by riding his bike and limiting his portion size...nothing more. He still ate pizza or whatever he wanted, he just had about 1/2 to 1/3 of what he would have normally eaten and it worked great for him. |

Good luck to you...that's quite a feat! By exercising, you'll burn lots of calories and speed up your metabolism, which might make you hungrier. But try to eat small snacks between meals to carry you over. It's better for you than pigging out on a big meal and stretching your stomach out. We'll be checking you out at Peep fest, so... My goal is to lose 5 lbs. by Peep fest. I stopped going to Jazzercise since we got digital cable with On Demand. The only problem is...I'm not good at setting a schedule to work out. That's why I like the classes. It forces me to work out on schedule. The holidays weren't too bad to me. I was too sick to eat too much....just kept drinking to deal with the stress!

I was fairly good this year and managed to only gain one pound over the holidays. I think the skiing helped, and the miles at the shopping mall late last week.
But I really would love to lose about 5 pounds in the next 6 weeks (actually less than 6 *gulp* ) I have before our two week vacation. I am just going to step up my normal exercise routine, try to lift weights 3 days a week instead of my normal 2, and more cardio. And smaller portions of course! And NO SWEETS hardly at all, no cream and sugar in my coffee, just 1% milk and artificial sweetener.....limit red meat....cut out cheese, my favourite ....etc.

i definitely do better w/ accountability! i already have a blog about diet stuff and i just joined the National Body Challenge, but it can't hurt to have one more arena!
I'd like to lose 11 lbs before peep fest.. i'm starting off with a cold which isn't helping my exercise motivation, but it should help with portion control! I'm cutting out sugar and "fake" foods... i'm not following any one diet plan but more going along the lines of commiting to eat healthier/fresher and upping my exercise. my biggest weakness is flavored coffee creamers.. need to figure out a solution for that. I suppose cutting out coffee? today I've had eggs with spinach, mushrooms, onion, and a sprinkle of cheese... and coffee (with the bad creamer - don't be mad!).. i'm working on making some stew right now for dinner.... lunch will probably be celery, hummus, and taboule. |

I'll jump in on this one too. My goal is to drop 12 by PeepStock or about 57 days from now.
Counting calories can drive you crazy but at the end of the day losing weight is a numbers game. Found a great site to help me through this process, www.caloriesperhour.com Through exercise and reducing intake or portion size and keeping track or even roughly counting calories consumed you can acheive your goals... we'll see. Anywho, check out the site - might be helpful - good luck! A pound of body fat equates to approximately 3500 calories. So if you have a calorie deficit of 500 calories (meaning that you burn 500 calories more than you eat each day) you would lose approximately one pound per week: 500 x 7 = 3,500 It's easy to see that a calorie deficit of 1000 calories would mean that you'd lose approximately two pounds per week. And that's a good number to remember, because two pounds a week is commonly accepted as the maximum rate of weight loss that is healthy. Losing weight too quickly has other disadvantages, too, and we'll be discussing this in the next topic. |

2 lbs a week would be psychologically damaging I for me...then again its really easy for me to shed the weight so .75 lbs a day is no big deal. |

Ok just to let you know all that we in Europe and in most parts of the world use Kilograms not pounds..
So 1 kilogram = 2,205 pounds ![]() I'm starting as well.. I dont believe in the scale because being active in basketball I know that muscles weigh more that fat.. so the scale doesnt really say alot about your physical state. The only thing I want to do is be happy in a bikini and that's my only goal. I dont know how much I weigh.. and don't really care ![]() But I know how I look and what I have to do. So Gym! here I come |
