Newbie (kinda) Canuck saying "HI !!"

Hello all!
I'm from Victoria, Canada, I belonged to this forum about 4 or 5 years ago, before we went to Playa for our first trip. It was ab-fab, and we're coming back again in a few months! Yippee!! It's great to see lots of names still on the forum that were sharing their wisdom (and wit-isms) way back then.
One of the places we're really looking forward to going back to is a restaurant that a woman from Alberta and her mom had just opened. She was lots of fun but we can't remember the name of the place, so hoping I'll get some help from the forum here on that...
Also, last time we were there, we went on a Coba tour we booked thru this site with a great woman tour guide, and no, I can not remember her name (did someone say cerveza kills brain cells?), so we'll be booking some stuff thru here again, that's for sure!
Anyways, enough nattering, great to be back, great to be HEADING back to Playa, just can not wait, we just decided today to go. Yippee!!

Greeting from a former Victorian, current Winnipeger. We get out to your town three or four times a year - folks still live in Fairfield, around Beacon Hill Park. It ain't Playa, but it's not a bad place to be about half past February.

The restaurant you're looking for would be Magdalena's, which was run by a mother/daughter duo from Red Deer, Alberta. Regrettably, it's been out of business for some time. It was one of our favourite dining spots. It became Beef E G's, which we never particularly enjoyed, though many others spoke highly of. I believe it's out of business now as well.

Thanx for the welcome, Bumper! And my condolences, a former Victorian living in Winterpeg, well that's just so unfair!

That's too bad about Magdalena's, we had some fun meals there.

Any other Canadians running restaurants there?

Bahaha, CuffedLinks, you made me laff out loud -- yup, gotta luv Eddie Murphy!

Thanx for the welcome, and to you too, CMSItaly! I was SOOO happy when I first logged back in and saw how busy and active this forum still is -- it has just the best info ever!

Now, I just have to get down to business and find a great place to stay -- any suggestions for within walking distance to Club Maeva, where the inlaws and their gang are staying?

We don't want to stay there, but would luv to be a short walk from them -- you know the saying "Good fences make good neighbors" ? Well, in this case... a good walk makes good inlaws...
