The best Mayan restaurant has got to be the Faisan y Venado on 307 imho . (07-30 - 21-30 )

I really enjoyed Yaxche. One of the best meals I have had down there.

We've been to Yaxche several times, and have never been disappointed. Our wedding anniversary usually occurs when we're in Playa, and Yaxche is our "special occasion" place. I highly recommend it.

place across from Yaxche

I ate at Yaxche last summer, only once, but it didn't seem like a standout. Maybe it's a function of what I ordered? What's best there?

I also ate at the place on the other side of the street from Yaxche and had a pretty good ceviche and soup. The altruistic waiter there repeatedly volunteered to teach me Spanish after we had chatted and I told him I was at the language school and my husband was in the states . . . Every time he returned to the table, he said, "I can teach you Spanish, Señora."
