I had Epilight treatments done years ago (at least 8 years ago, maybe more), and while they were painful and expensive, I never have to shave or wax, so that's 8 years worth of pain and expense that I have saved, probably $1000s of dollars at this point, and I never have to worry about managing re-growth.
I heartily recommend making the investment in permanent solutions.

Hard wax is still warm and melted but it's put on thicker and let to set for about 10 seconds then pulled off without the use of strips. It hurts less because it really only sticks to the hair and not the skin. Stip wax stays sticky and is pulled off with the help of a cloth or pellon strip. It MUST come in contact with the skin or it will only yank the hair and cause major pain Meaning that if you have thick or dense hair it's gonna HURT with strip wax. Because it sticks to the skin there is usually more sensitiviy. I use stip wax on most other areas when it's appropriate or preferred but for bikinis, especially brazilians, I wouldn't use anything but hard wax. I do my own and I wouldn't do it if it hurt...I'm a wuss too. I just did a brazillian on a first timer yesterday..she was gripping the table and making those faces and when I peeled off the wax she just looked at me and said...'that didn't hurt at all!" ...yeah, I'm good. Another thing to remember about shaving verses waxing. Okay number 1: it just flat out looks and feels better when you wax...period. Number 2: Your skin is a layer of defense against bacteria, viruses etc. It's very easy to cut the skin or cause damage with a razor that lets in bacteria. When you're waxed the esthetician should clean the area to be waxed before and after treatment with an antiseptic. Pulling the hair out by the root and immediately cleaning the area lets the pore close up quickly and reduces the chance of any kind of infection. Shaving causes irritated skin and razor burn at the time and as the hair grows back so if you shave you should also be applying an antiseptic to the area. Lets not even talk about whats on those blades or the shaving product used Just treat the area nicely, it deserves it! Okay...waxing 101 is over.

$25 for a brazilian wax is very cheap, but remember, you get what you pay for. i would suggest getting it done before your trip.
yes, the first time is very painful, but after that it's not so bad. i'm an addict for life... |

) Some wax brands are better than others but the scent isn't going to make any difference in the performance...it's just a gimck. Just so you know there are also waxes for different hair and skin types like zinc, aloe, calendula, tea tree...the list goes on forever. Just find a place and person you trust, someone who uses hard and strip waxes confidently and you'll be fine.

Hayward huh? I am from Superior. Is there anybody from Hurley here? Back in the thirties there was a common saying. "Hayward, Hurley and Hell." (Hell being Superior.) For those of you from elsewhere in the world these three Northern Wisconsin towns have been connected by all of the vices that some folks like to indulge in. Sex, gambling, drunkeness, debauchery, etc. We enjoyed this rough and tumble Western life from the 1800's and it still exists today (Although mostly just in Hurley as Superior and Hayward have become a little more civilized.) |

come to iceland and you will know what expensive means ![]() edit: just looked up a pricelist for a brazilian at one spa and it costs about $60. I don't go there but it's about the same price as I pay for. Last edited by Sunny20; 01-12-2007 at 12:08 PM.. |

How many treatments and over what period of time does this epilight take? I think anything would be worth waxing! I don't have the courage to embark on a brazilian
