Offtopic... jmac, that's a great picture of the two of you.

We stayed at the Royal last week. My hubby walked right past Starbucks to Java Joe's for coffee. Great coffee thanks, and would bring one back for me too!!! It is GREAT coffee. I love great coffee, and they just didn't have it at the Royal. "sigh"

We stopped for a coffee at Starbucks the other day, for the novelty of it all, but they didn't have any sugar... Go figure. And then it took them 10 minutes to return our money. We got a lovely cappuchino at Sasta instead.

Seriously, I think we locals forget sometimes, the Starbucks, the Burger King, the Subway etc are not aimed at feeding us (well, except for my darlin' SarahB ). They are aimed at visitors many of whom arrive here petrifired that they won't find anything to eat or drink that won't send them rushing to the bathroon or the hospital. So if having a few chain outlets on 5th allows people the confidence to visit, that ain't a bad thing. And once they are here we can convince them that it's all right to eat at Carboncitas, El Fagon, Bloody Chicas, Cafe Corazon etc. Oh...and Coconut Shrimp down on the beach. Now what is the name of that place?

Speaking of Coffee, Carlitos had family bring me down some Cafe DuMonde Coffee from New Orleans recently. I am addicted to the stuff. And I ran out yesterday. Withdrawl symptoms are setting in.

I agree Tony! Besides, each of these places employ local people, which aint bad either. BTW, how come your new award symbol isn't in your signature?! Get it in there man, you earned it!

Oh Man, I LOVE Cafe DuMonde coffee! I go back and forth between the French Roast and the regular with the Chickory- once or twice a year I have a shipment sent up as part of my coffee fix rotation- Jamaican Blue Mountain, Cafe DuMonde and Dunkin Donuts

Planning on heading down to The Big Easy for a long weekend in June with Hilary for our anniversary (and it will be our first weekend away after the birth of Maddie- thank god for grandparents) and I'm def bringing some back.

Thanks guys, but I got it covered. Some friends are bringing me a bunch next week. Of course, it's not the same if you're not drinking it at 4 in the morning, while licking Beniet sugar off your fingers as your head still spins to the beat you were hearing at Tipitina's all night long...but it's still good. See ya in March!

No prob! Glad you're getting your coffee sooner than March. lol Just for my edification, can one bring in coffee or other processed food stuffs and get it through customs okay? I know you can't bring in veggies or houseplants.

Cafe DuMonde Coffee is really really good, can understand why you will have withdrawl symtoms. I will be going to try to get some for myself later on this month from one of the grocery store here, want me to get one canister for you?? Let me know. I am coming in the early part of Feb.
