Beckham will bend it in Los Angeles

Mr Posh Spice on his way to LA.

David Beckham is leaving Real Madrid and will play in the US for the LA Galaxy.

Sometimes, the Galaxy will play Mexican teams in LA or the Galaxy will travel once in a while to Mexico for games.

Not a big deal, I realize, to most on this board. But just a little Heads Up in case some day everybody in Two Dollar Drinks glares at you because you want to watch an NFL/NHL/NBA/MLB game instead of Beckham and the Galaxy against the Chivas.

I guess he has enough money so a little cut in pay won't matter. You see, now he thinks because he is closer to Hollywood......

And perhaps a little more comfortable out in public???? The paparazzi shouldn't be as bad in LA. I would think the kidnapping threats would dissipate as well.

He's was done as a football player in Europe and the only option (to maintain his "high profile") was to move to MLS. He had a miserable last two years in Real...

The league averaged over 15,000 per game, last season. LA leads the league with an attendance average of over 21,000. More than a lot of baseball games and certainly not "empty stadiums."

Real Madrid pays a lot of high profile players a lot of money and expects to win. They do not gel as a team, however. Becks still has a lot of football left in him, and the MLS is lucky to be getting him. DC United is still going to hammer the Galaxy, even with Beckham.

He's going to be making 1 million a week in LA...!!! Noone in a clear mind would pay that type of money in Europe for 34-year old shadow of a great player - Period.

13,000 in Invesco field & 12,000 in Gillette Stadium = empty.. And they literally give half the tix away around here, believe me.. Buy 2 Big Macs and get a free ticket, etc etc - free parking - believe me, I appreciate the sport but it has about much chance in the USA as the metric system..

No, the 21,000 is the average per game of the Galaxy. As an ex-DC United, I have seen RFK stadium packed for games.

If you want to compare the popularity of football to the NFL or NCAA football, you are right. However, even if 1% of the American public are into it, that is a hell of a lot of people.

I would have said "....about as much chance as the metric system in Canada".

The US is more metric than you think, NASA, all branches of the Military, Science, Hollywood etc......

Anyway Beckam is all about this "$$$$$" not this "m3".
