Birthday Party Ideas for 3 year old! Help!!!
Ok, here is my dilema...
Evan, my beautiful, pride and joy is turning 3 in February. Here in Maryland, February can mean Snow, rain or 70 degrees, you just never know. So, to plan a party is kind of crazy. (As far as outside activities like a moon bounce or having animals, etc.) He wants to have a "Monkey George" also known as Curious George party, for about 10 of his darling little friends. I don't really want to have the party at my house...but...if I wanna go to Playa this year..I'll have to bite the bullet and do so. (Instead of going to a place somewhere and paying about $500 like we did last year) Any ideas of how to keep 11 3-6 year olds busy with birthday activites for about 3 hours??Thanks- Angelita ![]() Look at this face... I have to have a great "Monkey George" Party! |

Last year we went to a place here called Fundamentals, indoor moon bounce, little train, indoor sliding board & activities, but it cost me about $500 when all was said and done.
I was trying to go cheaper this year- so that we can go to Playa. More like $250 or less. (I guess I'm a bad mom...skimping on my son's party so that I can lay on the beach!) |

You are a brave woman to have a kids party in your home.
We have a bowling alley near by who will do a nice kids party for about $100 They furnish pizza and soft drinks/paper goods and free bowling. You bring the cake. They put the bumpers up so the little kids can bowl and they use the lightweight balls. They also have a party hostess who does all the work. |

Our local Y also does fun parties for kids...price used to be around $200. Kids were able to do organized play activities with their staff and also swim. From the Y page:
our Kids Deserve a Birthday Party at the YMCA The Southwest YMCA offers exciting Birthday Party options on Saturdays and Sundays between 12:30p.m. and 5:30p.m. Packages include crafts, games, swimming and gym time and a private party room. We also have the bowling with bumpers and that is very reasonable. We used to get a room at a local hotel so the girls could have access to the pool and have snacks, pizza and cake there. We just had the parents come along on a Sat. afternoon and they loved having drinks, visiting and supervising. Last edited by NorthMinnesota; 01-11-2007 at 02:13 PM. |

I can always do Chuck E Cheese for $15/a child- but I hate the thought of that place. (Of course my son loves it!) And, if I do Chuck E Cheese, I still have to pay for the parents to eat--- and the pizza's there are like $20/each |

You could rent the Curious George movie, and have that running during the cake/ice cream/presents.
Get everyone a "Barrel full of monkeys". Have a contest to see who can make the longest chain of monkeys. If you're somewhat crafty: You could have a hunt in your house, maybe yard. Make bananas or yellow hats out of yellow tissue paper. Have a little prize inside, or a piece of candy. If you're very crafty: "Pin the Yellow Hat on the Man with the yellow hat" Instead of "Simon Says", play "Monkey See, Monkey Do" (except you have to do everything the monkey/it does. Okay, that's 15 minutes! Make-your-own banana splits instead of bday cake. |

MWC, you are SO good. I love your ideas. So thematic, you are!!
When my kids were that age, we rented the bounce houses. Kids took turns; two dads manned the entrance/exit. Bad weather? Put it in the garage. For the kids who were not jumping, I had a craft inside for them to do. Jumping, eating cake/ice cream, opening gifts, it was a pretty quick 2 hours. And you definitely get out for under $250. |
