Last week, as I was walking south on 10th Avenue, I noticed that Los Almendros is closed. This used to be a nice and inexpensive place to eat. Anyone know what will be opening there? |

I had been going there for years. I couldn't believe that it was closed. The floor was being torn up. The day that I went by there wasen't anyone around working on the place or else I would have asked what type of business would be opening in that spot.

re: which Los Alamendros?
From the 10th Ave. note in post, I think you are speaking of the Los Alamendros venue which I enjoyed many years ago and perhaps in 2001 for the last time ... I think they just moved not closed ... I ate at Los Alamendros, Calle 4 between Ave. 5 y 10, back in November ... it is between Ajua and the fish restaurant (blue and white open air decor, but the name escapes me at the moment - maybe Las Brisas? - another well established venue) ... anywho, the waiter at Los Alamendros said they were operated by the same family which had the other place

Yes, I have to admit that Los Almendros was good and cheap, but didn't really wow me. I'm spoiled by La Casita de los Guisos and Bloody Chicas, I guess. Personal attention and food prepared with love win out for me, I guess.
