I always feel so special to know they've thought of me when they were on vacation in some far away place.
Good to know.....

Pewter serving dishes, plates, trays etc. I get a new one every time I go to Mexico.

PlayaJunkie sent me a lovely piece last year - cant wait to get some more matching pieces.

I thought of you collectors out there while I was going through boxes of stored 'stuff' and began putting them aside for the Salvation Army. I am so not into collecting and hoarding things anymore. My closet looks so much more spacious and I feel much lighter

That being said, I have my eyes set on some other Wusthof knives to add to my 'collection' In my defense, these are going to be used, not merely collected to gather dust. Is that a good enough excuse?

Where do you all keep these extensive 'collections'? Plus maintaining them must be a challenge!I have enough problems keeping the usual knick-knacks/pictures, etc. dusted and clean.

That's precisely what inspired me to get rid of mine, or at least store some of the things (for my kids) in the attic. My kids bought T-shirts in Europe and they too have decided to quit collecting 'junk' as they call it. We should open an account on ebay and sell this stuff though, but I don't have time.

You ought too, you'd probably make a fortune.

My "fine china" is Fiestaware. I have about 16 full place settings, all in different colors. And, I have picked up a few antique pieces for my hutch. The really nice pieces can be really expensive!
I used to collect vintage Fieastaware too! And my "fine china" IS the new stuff in all different colors!

It seems that I am now a collector of diecast tractors. I had decided to redecorate my kitchen in an old country kitchen theme and had a few tractors on a shelf. Now it has become an addiction and I keep finding cute little tractors everywhere. It doesn't help that Ron has become addicted to buying and selling old diecast toys on ebay and at local auctions. He started drooling when he saw your collection Sn0wman.

This craze was SUCH a pet peeve of mine. When my sister started buying the more expensive ones (she is a schoolteacher and so is her husband), I questioned her about whether it was wise to spend her money that way. I explained about the tulip craze several hundred years ago in Holland, but to no avail. She actually told me that she was "investing" in them for my nieces' college education.

I tried to explain that nothing that is currently produced and can be produced again at the flick of a switch is truly "collectible." She didn't get it.

I would "laugh last" but its very sad how much money she lost. Now her multi hundred dollar beanie babies are nothing but overpriced dog toys.
