Just returned

We just returned on Saturday Feb3rd...had a fabulous time!
They did play a five min cartoon before the Star Friends show...what wonderful evening shows they put on!! At about 9:15 they do a audience participation contest (music trivia, dancing, etc) then the Big show starts after that. Service was awesome, and food.....ohmygod....we had such good meals at the buffet. Also tried Japanese (great), Italian (good) and the Steak house (so so) Pool bar is a must to try. If you sit at the bar and there are empty tables across the pool they have ice cube throwing contests into glasses on far tables. Towel game around pool was pretty evident...and annoying...we spent lots of time on the beach. More to see down there anyways with the parasailing and people watching.Big change going from 85 degree weather to -1 when we flew into Vancouver, then -10 when we flew to Prince George in Northern BC. Three things I missed the most when I was gone, decent coffee, fresh milk and cold water out of the taps!

ISLANDGIRL, How was the beach? We've heard that it's still in good condition compared to others to the north (which are non-existant at this time). The erosion hasn't made it's way down there yet has it? We are heading there in early May. Cannot wait!!!! Did you request certain rooms and were your requests honored? THANKS!

tucan/quetzal...

My daughter requested a certain room last year and luckily she got the room she asked for...and also we got the room next to her so when it gets nearer the time for our holiday I will ask if we can have the same room....mainly because it wasn't till we were getting ready to come home..I could find my room LOL

realy funny about getting lost I did it all the time! I was on the tucan side but ended up on the quetzal side !! I felt really stupid! oh dear.....I nearlly panicked at one stage but found that as long as you stick to the perimeter pathway you will eventually find your way.....my husband gave up on me in the end..if I left him to go back to room he would say ......see you in a couple of hours!! how true!! he had to come with me a few times a well.....so now I know where I am please let me have the same room again otherwise ooooh!

rooms etc

We just requested close to the beach... which is hard to request as everyone wants the same. We were place in building 13 which is three from the beach. It was perfect. Close to pool and beach and a nice stroll through the jungle path to the main lobby and buffett, yet far enough away from the noise of the disco and the live theatre which is next to the buffet. We did get a jungle view vs a main path view which was much nicer. There are three levels on building. We stayed on ground floor and our friends stayed on the top floor. Both levels were nice.We were on the Tucan side, which I preferred after wandering the grounds. Both sides look the same, but I preferred Tucan side as it seemed quieter.Would highly recommend this property and go back again and stay in same place.

as well...

Oh yeah! The beach was fabulous! Lots of it left compared to some
of the other resort beaches we saw....We had 2 red flag days due to high winds that were interesting.

I hope we get a red flag day or two! As much as I love looking over the bright blue tranquil sea, I also love watching big waves crash on the shore! Actually I hope there is a wavy day or two when we can swim in the waves. Last year in PV we took our boogie boards and had a blast every day in the mornings when the surf was high. We won't be taking them this time, but I still love rough water. I am just getting so excited.

island girl,
is there a shopping centre. accross from the resort. We heard there was, but cannot find anything on maps we have. We are planning on going into town, but wanted something else handy, especially if it rains etc. Also, if there is one annnnnnd you went there, are the prices o.k. and can you bargain with the sellers? We are looking for Mexican blankets, silver, bathing suits etc.

Glad to hear the beaches were o.k. ...we realize from reading here they can change over-night.

Yeah...there's the Plaza just a few minutes walk from the hotel (towards PDC). Quite a few varied shops, clothes, jewellry, pottery, leatherwork/crafts, chemist, bank. It's also where a few of the organised tours are picked up from.

As for haggling the price down...give it a go! Like I said in another post, the worst that could happen is you end up paying the price on the ticket!

Tripping we should try to meet up for a drink. This will be are 6th time to this resort. We just had friends who came back about a week ago and said the beach was fantastic. I'm sure it will be just fine.
