Dude, what a great choice of video to make your point. I love that line (I think it was) :"I'm a thoughtful man".

Not to mention all the food and people to serve it. Maybe Just feed them hot dogs and they will stop this nonsense.

There is no stain on American journalism. Like the net, you have to read a lot of different sources and the only truth that is found is what is included in all of them. The rest is opinion or editorial slant.
Yes it does, in NPR and PBS.

That pretty much sums up the way I feel too. I believe that of all the things Congress could debate war is the most important.

Not only those sources. There is still very good to excellent print journalism available in the US.

While I consider the 24 hour news networks very bad, the larger problem imo lies with people taking the time to be informed.

About that Giuliani article

I thought it was pretty good, and I was trying to get the thread away from this Rodney King, namby pamby, wussy can we all just get along consensus crap.

There are parties because there are disagreements.
There will be, in fact, continuing culture wars in the USA. Choose up sides, cause neutral is not an option

Not exactly true. Although not super liberal, not as close to center as Brit Hume. Brit Hume who, by the way, has two NPR contributors on his panel, which goes to show that there is some balance.

Media Bias Is Real, Finds UCLA Political Scientist... 12/14/2005

Quote:
The most centrist outlet proved to be the "NewsHour With Jim Lehrer." CNN's "NewsNight With Aaron Brown" and ABC's "Good Morning America" were a close second and third.
"Our estimates for these outlets, we feel, give particular credibility to our efforts, as three of the four moderators for the 2004 presidential and vice-presidential debates came from these three news outlets — Jim Lehrer, Charlie Gibson and Gwen Ifill," Groseclose said. "If these newscasters weren't centrist, staffers for one of the campaign teams would have objected and insisted on other moderators."
The fourth most centrist outlet was "Special Report With Brit Hume" on Fox News, which often is cited by liberals as an egregious example of a right-wing outlet. While this news program proved to be right of center, the study found ABC's "World News Tonight" and NBC's "Nightly News" to be left of center. All three outlets were approximately equidistant from the center, the report found.
"If viewers spent an equal amount of time watching Fox's 'Special Report' as ABC's 'World News' and NBC's 'Nightly News,' then they would receive a nearly perfectly balanced version of the news," said Milyo, an associate professor of economics and public affairs at the University of Missouri at Columbia.
Quote:
Yet another finding that contradicted conventional wisdom relates to National Public Radio, often cited by conservatives as an egregious example of a liberal news outlet. But according to the UCLA-University of Missouri study, it ranked eighth most liberal of the 20 that the study examined.
"By our estimate, NPR hardly differs from the average mainstream news outlet," Groseclose said. "Its score is approximately equal to those of Time, Newsweek and U.S. News & World Report and its score is slightly more conservative than The Washington Post's. If anything, government‑funded outlets in our sample have a slightly lower average ADA score (61), than the private outlets in our sample (62.8)."
The researchers took numerous steps to safeguard against bias — or the appearance of same — in the work, which took close to three years to complete. They went to great lengths to ensure that as many research assistants supported Democratic candidate Al Gore in the 2000 election as supported President George Bush. They also sought no outside funding, a rarity in scholarly research.

The most centrist program was on PBS.
Thank you for supporting my point.

So, by that logic, Fox is centrist, as well, since Brit Hume finished very close to McNeil.

No.

Fox is private industry owned by uber-right-winger, Rupert Murdoch.

PBS is non-profit, publically, government and corporation supported.

Huge freaking difference.

Hume is the exception at Fox, and probably the only journalist who at one time had a solid reputation who is now on the Fox Network, as far as I know. At least he has not screwed up as much as Rather did

Well, I think the study speaks for itself. Fox is to the right, a little. Most of the rest are to the left, in varying degrees, including NPR and PBS.

OK but come on -- it's a simple question -- do you want America to win or not?
