Just giving you a website that has a collection of polls. The ones on that page are the most recent. Wasn't pointing out anything. If you don't want it, give it back.

I am just so frustrated that a country as great as ours can not come up with better people to run for president. None of them are worthy, or would be a great leader.

One more reason for people to be pissed at Congress.

Umm, Bush asked for a ceiling of 200,000 and the Dems put it at a cool million per year. I thought you guys were for making the rich pay more, not subsidizing them. Or, is that only for some of the rich?

Have you ever read any farm subsidy legislation? I can almost assure you that what you are talking about here is a very minor part of the bill. Most likely there is much, much more to the story than what was reported in the column linked to earlier. If you find a link to the whole bill let me know. Of course that is not the simple answer so in vogue with some members of the polity today.

It's too bad the Republicans didn't do alot of things the past 6 years (including strengthening the 2nd amendment)
The Democrats are into farm subsidies up to their necks, they invented them.
But then you may not have a link to the politics of the 50s, 60s, & 70s
What reform have we seen or can we expect from the Democrats? So far they have done absolutely nothing I ( & over 80% of the U.S.) am still waitng for them to do anything usefull.
Even the poster child for stupidity; Cindy Sheehan, has decided to run against Nancy Pollosy next year.
Thanks for the bit of comic relief, it has been a rough day & yoiu have brightened it with your thoughts.

I'm glad I could brighten your day.I believe farm subsidies have been around a bit longer than you are implying here. This table will give you and idea of which party benefits most from farm subsidies. These are agri-business contributions by party:Industry Totals: Agribusiness

As with all donations & contributions; the party in charge gets the most/biggest donations.
The Democrats will be raking in the $$ soon, hopefully their power will fade & die in 2008.

I think the demographics are against your theory. It seem the Republican minority leader is one of the folks working to get the proposed bill through:
Quote:
Republican and Democratic congressional leaders rarely agree on a major issue. Yet both House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-San Francisco) and Minority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) have gone on the record as opposing the current $25-billion farm subsidy system, which Congress is rewriting this month.

Changing the system won't be easy. They will have to battle the powerful agriculture lobby and its allies on the House Agriculture Committee, who are once again employing Norman Rockwell imagery to assert that farm subsidies are an all-American necessity that ensures an adequate food supply and alleviates farmer poverty.

Well, there's always this guy. Cetainly seems handsome enough, at least (for what I can tell about men being handsome!).

And he's all but invited a draft movement, saying (perhaps in typical politician roundabout fashion "There's not a condition where I won't be a candidate". Course we'd have to revamp the Constitution for that natural-born citizen bit, and in that case, well it'd probably be easier to just go with Arnie.

But on amore serious note, again, I've just seen this review if the YouTube debate:

Quote:
Uploading Democracy: Candidates Field YouTube Questions

Despite the cynicism expressed by the YouTube questions -- and shared by the public -- seven-in-ten Americans (71%) still believe that "voting gives people like me some say about how government runs things." This helps explain why individuals took the time to submit around 3,000 video questions -- though skepticism towards candidates and Washington exists, the public still views the election process as a way to have their voice heard...

In addition to airing some of the dissatisfaction and frustration held by individuals and the public, the YouTube questions also raised issues that had not been addressed in-depth by previous Democratic debates. [edited list]

Iraq and Vietnam

Serving Your Country [draft]

Snowmen of this Country Speak Out [global warming; some interesting stats there, I think, re public opinion on this controversy]

The NCLB Song and Dance

Public v. Private Debate [schools]

Faith and Politics

An Inconvenient Truth [re Gore's popularity]

Would you allow us to be married...to each other?

Reparations for Slavery
