Great, another thing to add to the list of reasons why I love Texas...this list is getting long, we should just move there and get it over with.

According to the Tax Foundation - total state and local tax burden for

Texas in 2007 is 9.3%

Oregon has a very high income tax, but little else

10.0%

I don't know about California, but its state and local tax burden for 2007 is lists as 11.5%, the same as Minnesota's and just above Arkansas' 11.3%

This Link has the state and local burdens and the combined with Federal burden back to 1970.

2.2% savings..umm, sounds miniscule but that would be enough to pay for a week in Playa...methinks I should move.

My local sale taxes are below 9% and so are the surrounding counties. School and county (hospital) taxes keep going up though...gotta pay for all those illegals you know.

They're paying sales taxes too, ya know

In some states personal property taxes can take a pretty good sum.

In Oregon we have income tax and real estate (property) tax. No sales tax. There are some other minor ones, like hotel/lodging tax.

As many tourists as we get, I think we should have a sales tax on the coast with a deduction for locals - soak the out-of-towners

Not very much... groceries are non-taxable and theres no taxes at garage sales and some thrift stores. It not like they are shopping the big ticket items..mostly dollar stores. Walmart..is a good as it gets.
