The US Senate doesn't count?

Clinton's senate committees: Armed Services, Environment & Public Works, and Health, Education, Labor, & Pensions.

Obama senate committees: Foreign Relations, Veteran's Affairs, Health, Education, Labor & Pensions and Homeland Security & Government Affairs.

Not exactly a 7-11.

Not in his book..well, unless we are talking about Fred Thompson or something....you know, lobbyist, actor, lawyer and senator...When Fred runs....then, it will count for something

Being a Senator puts you in charge of just what, exactly? Oh, thats right, nothing. You are one member among 100 whose main job is to temper the bills that come out of Congress. A necessary position, surely, but not one that provides any leadership or management experience.

Rudi led the biggest city in the country and, arguably, the most important city in the world. Romney led one of the most liberal states in the country, as a Republican. A history of bipartisanship and a willingness to compromise.

Disagree totally. Because neither was a governor or mayor does not mean they lack leadership experience. Obama was a civil rights lawyer before public office, an author and university professor. Oh, and Hillary was first lady for 8 years, a post she did not take as a figurehead.

If the GOP frontrunner was "just" a senator, I doubt you would bemoan thier lack of experience?

Wasn't bemoaning anything. I was commenting on the fact that the GOP candidates were more open to criticism on their leadership, since they have already led. The same cannot be said of the two Democrat frontrunners. Not really something that can be debated, as it is fact.

The same can be said of Thompson. If it comes to Senator vs. Senator, you have two candidates that you are going to have to guess on, because they can't offer anything based on experience.

IMO, Thompson is the GOP's only hope and even that is only as the saviour candidate for conservatives, coming in at the last moment when everyone else in the GOP looks like crap compared to the Democratic leaders....

The GOP is going to eat itself from the inside in this election.....maybe, just maybe, Fred can come in at the last moment and pull it out....only because he looks and sounds presidential, if not much more......like Reagan.....and he's a senator...and an actor...and a lawyer...and a lobbiest..go figure.....

Kind of skirts the issue. People want track records. Senators only have voting records.

Wow, you sure are getting a lot of mileage out of one election. An election where you ran more conservative Democrats, who are now going to turn around and join their Republican counterparts in funding the war that all of you were so desperate to end.

Gloat on.

See, here I was thinkin' that there is just plain more to criticize amongst the Republican candidates.

It seems to me that the groups that have been at forefont of the Republican base for these last decades have problems with most of the Republican candidates. When one makes bold and simple allegations about ones opposition as Romney did, it will be hard for Guiliani to counter. Don't forget all those right wing anti-immigrant talk radio hosts.

I think the Republican party is currently seeking a new identity for itself away from the neo-con model. It may be a good thing for the party and the country in the long term. It may not bode well for success in '08 of the Republican candidate.

More predictions. This is from the last election, but funny...

Halloween Masks
Costume sellers have said that the winner of every presidential election for nearly three decades has been foretold by sales figures for rubber masks of the candidates. In other words, the bigger freak usually wins.
This year, BuyCostumes.com reported that Bush masks led sales. However, other sellers said Gore narrowly edged out Bush. Of course, the overall political bestseller continues to be Richard Nixon, so by that measure, he should have won every election since 1968.
Winner: Nixon

How are the Redskins doing this year? This is football, right?

The Washington Redskins
In the previous 15 elections, if the Washington Redskins have lost their last home game prior to the election, the incumbent party has lost the White House. When they have won, the incumbent has stayed in power. This year, the Redskins lost that game to the Tennessee Titans, 27-21.
Winner: Bush
