Perhaps this may help explain Mr Cancun's post regarding how popular Fox is.

We watch ABC local news - the weatherman is a St. Louis Cardinals (baseball fan) the news team is good and fun.

National we watch ABC and PBS - occasionally a bit of CNN on Sunday morning - that one fellow before Wolf Blitzer.

Mostly I read.

That I wouldn't know as I can't remember the last time I've watched them. I tend to watch Jim Lehrer when I can, or Jon Stewart (surprisingly good at alerting you to what's been going on for a non-news show!) or Colbert (ditto on him), or more often than not, I just check online, too.

BTW, what is with the new tactic of the left? Refusing to do press because they don't like the questions? Pretty soon, there won't be anywhere left to appear.
Up until a few weeks ago Tim Russert was one of the democrats go to guys, so he finally gets the male equipment to ask real questions of them & gets reamed.
I guess if you are not on their side 24-7 you are the enemy.

Media Bias Is Real, Finds UCLA Political Scientist / UCLA Newsroom

The most oft cited research on media bias. Note that Fox's Brit Hume's show (one of the few real "news" programs on that network) is rated 4th for fairness.

Quote:
"If viewers spent an equal amount of time watching Fox's 'Special Report' as ABC's 'World News' and NBC's 'Nightly News,' then they would receive a nearly perfectly balanced version of the news," said Milyo, an associate professor of economics and public affairs at the University of Missouri at Columbia.
If one considers Bill O'Reily and Hannity and Colmes to be news, I can't help them. To quote one of my favorite bands, "that's entertainment."

But that's generally the all-purpose excuse for Fox supporters when people criticize it as being biased, I think: if it wasn't fair and balanced, it must have been an opinion moment. The whole network turns out to be opinion. You guys miss the bias on the news portions because it's the same as your bias, therefore it's not bias for you. That's my theory.

Interesting to note that that same research concludes

Quote:
The most centrist outlet proved to be the "NewsHour With Jim Lehrer." CNN's "NewsNight With Aaron Brown" and ABC's "Good Morning America" were a close second and third.
So there you have it: less bias on PBS, CNN and ABC than on Fox. Not a lot to shout about along these lines if you're Fox, I would say, as those are often cited by conservatives as having a liberal bias just as one article notes that Fox is often cited by liberals as having a conservative bias.

And it gets better:

Quote:
Yet another finding that contradicted conventional wisdom relates to National Public Radio, often cited by conservatives as an egregious example of a liberal news outlet. But according to the UCLA-University of Missouri study, it ranked eighth most liberal of the 20 that the study examined.

"By our estimate, NPR hardly differs from the average mainstream news outlet," Groseclose said...
[source/more]

Not sure how far conservatives who complain about all this supposed liberal bias in the media are going to want to go in citing that research in support of Fox...

Steve

I believe you are mistaken here as Media Matters has documented his bias against Democrats some 92 times:Tim Russert - Media Matters
