If this is an ongoing issue for you, don't worry, as it's our baby room that doubles as that guest room, with a daybed that is appropriately prepared, if you get my meaning.

After whatever "justification" was officially provided and the promise of that sort of independent/third party run, seeing you "go all Chicago on 'em" would I think be the highlight of the Dems' nightmare scenario, I opine.

I'm a little afraid to post this, here, if you wanna know the truth. I mean, such astounding news, the type that can rock your preconceptions right to the core and leave you shaken and directionless, wondering who you can trust anymore or how you can begin again, well it can make you think twice before bringing it up at all, you know, as you ponder whether we all might not be happier in the end if such information stayed hidden and was not ever brought to light.

And of course this just goes double in a context like this one, an election year and an election many think may be one of the most important elections, if not the most important election, their generation will ever take part in. And one that's so remarkably close, too.

But in the end, well, as the Bard said, the truth will out, so I urge you to prepare yourselves -- take a seat, clear the room of the kids, perhaps even get a good, stiff drink ready, or even some smelling salts, if you have them, just in case. Better safe than sorry, you know.

OK. Ready? Take a deep breath...

White men hold superdelegate power balance

...

I know, I know!!!

But wait, there's more! According to the article with that headline,

Quote:
superdelegates have never reflected the diversity of the Democratic party as a whole, nor were they designed to. They represent the party insiders, a group that white men still dominate.

It just stikes one speechelss.

Here is my advice, which is kinda also what Just Lucky has been hinting at or saying out right.

The Democratic nomination process will move forward. One of two people will be nominated. Which one and by what process is not the prize upon which to keep our eyes. November is that prize.

Work toward zen-like detachment from the nomination outcome.

Work toward preparing yourself to defeat McCain on My Birthday.

That my best counsel to all of you.

peace

So, you started this now 500-page discussion a year or so in advance of the general election in order to say that we should just sit back and wait to see what happens with the nominations and focus on that general election?

Strange they are, your ways, and alien to me...

But you know, I wish you the best of birthday presents this coming November.

Or get out and do something? I'm following MWC's lead and going to canvassing training tomorrow. Ohio will not fail me again.

Peace.

Brooks & Shields were quite good in their analysis segment to close The News Hour tonight, I thought, with their focus being almost entirely on the Democratic campaign. The transcript is here for anyone interested, and includes advice to the Clinton campaign, criticism of exaggerated reports of her demise in the press, and some differing views on the superdelegates and MI & FL situations, among other things.

Godspeed!

I just got the email from the Obama campaign that led me to the link MWC was talking about (here).

I tend to think, as perhaps you do, that you don't wait until something's gone wrong and you have to try and reverse it (and probably fail because by then, it's the status quo, of course). But I'm also trying to have some faith that, as MWC and Jacko have suggested, the DNC would not let things go too wrong, for their own good, if not also for the good of democracy.

A featured quote from that analysis tonight, from Brooks:

Quote:
It's a democracy. It's not an oligarchy. And I think there's going to be a lot of voter resistance to the idea -- if Obama wins the elected delegates and the super delegates swing it to Clinton, I think there will be an enormous amount of voter resistance to that.

I've always tried to be an informed voter, but truthfully never got involved beyond putting a sign in my yard. It feels like old college times for me to be this fired up.

And props to Hillary, this has been a tough nomination process and it ain't over yet. I respect her and will support her if she gets the nom. Until that time, Obama 08!

Wow, this is kind of alarming, I think, if it turns out to be more than some sort of anomaly: in An education gap among white voters, which otherwise seems not very convincing or noteworthy, the comment appears that

Quote:
digging further into the Virginia data, one difference jumped out.

While about half of whites regardless of education level said the nation is "definitely" ready for a woman president,

just a third of whites without college degrees were that sure the country is prepared for a black president . . .

. . . and they were almost twice as likely as college educated whites to say the nation is not ready for an African American chief executive.
Read that over a couple of times to let it sink in...

Do not be alarmed by reality. I am surprised the numbers are not more stark.

It is our world.
