I humbly apologize for responding in kind - and will leave you to once again dominate this thread with your incredible volume of stuff.

Haven't you reached the end of the internet yet?
In times like these, we need a really strong conservative here( you know, to beat up on and stuff)..things are...well, things seem just out of balance here...bad karma and all ( or is it bad feng shui?) .

It is hard for me to believe Steinem said this. I hope it's not true. I think she's smarter than that. It's deplorable if she said it.I couldn't find it on MSNBC doing a search. It is on a number of right wing blogs.

Here's another article about her time here in Austin which makes no mention of her comments about McCain. This article is a bit more positive:Devon Mills: Gloria Steinem Supports Hillary in Austin - Off The Bus on The Huffington Post

Exactly. Obviously, she doesn't know much about the contributions women made in the Vietnam War or else she wouldn't have made those remarks. Also, besides that, why go after McCain's involvement in this war; it's totally off of the mark.

Even if she did say it,which as I say would be deplorable, one has to wonder what preceded this quote which was left out of the Observer article. Context may be part of the problem.

I'm going to have to disagree, JL. What context would even put such a statement in any kind of understandable perspective? I also don't like Steinem's "our historical oppression is better than your historical oppression" type of argument. That is, racism v. mysogyny. As if a man couldn't have a platform for the latter; or a white person for the former? I don't get it.

Well, you make a good point. It is perhaps my previously mentioned dissonance which makes me such a skeptic about the story.

Here is an op-ed piece that Steinem wrote that is off-base as well.

Given the timing and gender perspectives involved, I can't help but wonder if Gloria Steinem wasn't reacting in part to the negative remarks made about Clinton's experience on Fox the other day during Brit Hume's segment, especially as they were contrasting her experience with McCain's in one bit. (This was where they said that her ad was really a McCain ad; Roni won't believe it, probably, but I purposely avoided posting any link or excerpt because I do in fact keep the kid gloves on sometimes with reference to some Clinton comments. ) If anybody saw that, well see if you don't think there could be some connection, there...

Anyway, for a bit more fun, try this: CNN's Delegate Counter Game (they call it that, not me -- more of just a calculator). Might be good for a couple of minutes of fun.

Strange bedfellows...

Quote:
Limbaugh urges listeners to vote for Clinton

Limbaugh has been actively urging his Texas listeners to cross over and vote for Clinton in that state's open primary Tuesday, arguing it helps the Republicans if the Democratic race remains unsettled for weeks to come.

"I want Hillary to stay in this…this is too good a soap opera," Limbaugh told fellow conservative talk-show host Laura Ingraham on Fox News Friday. He reiterated the comments on his Monday show and replayed the exchange with Ingram.

He also said Clinton is more willing than the Republican National Committee and John McCain's campaign to criticize Barack Obama.

"We need Barack Obama bloodied up politically. It's obvious that the Republicans are not going to do it, they don't have the stomach for it," Limbaugh continued. "As you probably know we're getting all kinds of memos from the RNC saying we're not going to be critical. Mark McKinnon of McCain's campaign said he'll quit if they get critical over Obama..."

not going to get critical......... I think the American public would almost be disappointed in a non-critical presidential election...... I would find it amazing

This ain't got nuttin to do with Gloria or Limbaugh or anyone else

On Wednesday, CTV reported that a senior member of Obama's campaign called the Canadian government within the last month -- saying that when Senator Obama talks about opting out of the free trade deal, the Canadian government shouldn't worry. The operative said it was just campaign rhetoric not to be taken seriously.
And then there is Rezko. Obama is hoping he wins tomorrow, cause the poop is just starting to hit the fan. He stopped press questions after only 8 questions when there were many dozens left, mostly by the press who knows him the best, the Illinois press.

He is hoping beyond hope he can win it before the whole story gets out, figuring he can beat that old fracker McCain even with all this negative news.

As my smartest woman, Kathy says "He's not the good boy he has been playing like he is."

She is smart, that Kathy. She has experience with bad boys.

I don't know that his competition was ever in the Scouts. I don't know that Obama was either.

Those Scouts are anti-gay. I am sure neither of them support that.
