Well done! I like how you each took a different perspective in terms of the speaker.

However I'm a little disappointed, Mel, that you didn't include anything like "not one of your blonde floosies".

Another voice for a paradigm shift in our approach to politics? Stuart Rothenburg writes of while the GOP lost that seat in MS:

Quote:
Hypothesis No. 1: Davis lost because he failed to unite the GOP after a bitter primary and failed to win the votes of supporters of former Tupelo Mayor Glenn McCullough (R).

There is only limited empirical evidence of this . . .

Hypothesis No. 2: Any Republican with a pulse should have won this district, so Davis’ defeat is a sign of the deep, deep national problems in the Republican Party.

This seems logical. The only problem is that it is wrong . . .

Hypothesis No. 3: Republican strategy in the race was flawed. They made a mistake by going negative on Childers too strongly and too quickly, and the effort to tie Childers to presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) and Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) failed.

I believe that this probably is correct

Meanwhile, poor Clinton can't win for losing, it seems:

A Repulican strategist and acknowledged McCain supporter even said last night on CNN that one less of the GOP loss in MS is that you won't beat Obama with the same old tactics of things like trying to smear him via his connection with Wright, you'd have to beat him with better ideas and policies, instead.

So I guess those were McCain's attempts at better ideas and policies!

In another thread someone wants Bush to be more like Ronald Reagan,John Kennedy. Well Reagan made it a policy not to negotiate with terrorists. Remember Iran and Contra affair. Kennedy is also considered the father of todays Green Berets. Would you like to see Obama sending in our special forces to Iran and causing all kinds of mayheim?

Stogie, I don't know how to break this to you Iran-Contra was all about negotiating with terrorists. Reagans people were giving arms to Iran in hopes they would intervene with Hezbollah to free western hostages. Some of the anti-tank weapons given to the Iranians ended up in Hezbollah's hands.

I don't know what you would call the Contras but I'd think terrorist would be one thing I'd call 'em.

Yes,but the Contras were good terrorists. They fought on the right side fighting against communism and despots, which is a good cause. As for myself I fight against islamofacitst. I don't do it openly I do it discreetly. I rarely buy anything from anyone if I suspect them to be of such presuasion.

But then again two days before 911 I had just dropped off my tractor at a Ryder rental place in Boston. Four Middle Eastern guys pull up and ask me where the rental office was. Ever since I have strong suspisions that they were part of the group that rented a vehicle to transport other terrorist the airport.

So I swear I'll never be friendly or give help to anyone of that age or likeness again. I don't care if I'm popular for that or not. I put my country before popularity any time. I suspect that Obama would be friendly towards those types of people. So I'll never show him any respect until he proves me other wise.

Wow. That's a whole lot of people who are not terrorists. Do you honestly feel that Obama would be "friendly" toward terrorists because of his middle name?

Xenophobia at this level is just patently offensive. You really ought to think about peddling it somewhere else.
