Something just came satisfyingly clear as I was listening to Alexis Herman, chair of the Dems' RBC, explain more of the background re MI & FL. She notes that they listened to presentations from quite a number of states -- 16, I believe she said -- who argued that they should each be 1 of the 2 states whose contests would be moved forward in the schedule into the range of dates closer to those of traditionally first IA & NH. She said there was quite a vigorous competition on the way to the additional primary state of SC and the additional caucus state of NV winning and being moved forward.
So, you know, an open and vigorous contest that the big, powerful states of MI & FL failed to win over smaller states with better arguments, and that they then got upset about and called unfair, refusing to recognize that they just lost. No wonder Clinton identifies so closely wth them! Steve Last edited by ryberg : 05-31-2008 at 09:40 AM. |

There you go: Obama in agreement with the petition to reinstate half of FL's delegates. Wexler was a great choice!
Edit: Wow, anyone else watching this? Who knew political party rules committee meetings could be so riveting?!? Wexler turns out to have been a spectacular choice by the Obama campaign! By stark contrast, Clinton man Ickes... Well he turns out to be not only focused on more obfuscation and lying to the people (which thankfully Wexler called him out on), but moreover just a horse's ass! Just plain left Wexler and the discussion hanging and refused to continue talking to him! Wow... Steve Last edited by ryberg : 05-31-2008 at 11:33 AM. |

And wow again...
You guys know how to tell when Harold Ickes is lying or otherwise trying to mislead people? ... ... ... ... ... ... Yeah... ![]() Luckily they're calling him out on it again: "You're calling for fair reflection of a flawed primary. What we're trying to do is bring the party together for the election in November . . . We're trying to unify the party. Don't disunify us." Steve |

Well the Times is pointing out the nomination is pretty well settled. Something that's pretty obvious to me for some time.

Obama resigns from his church.
I think the resignation is probably a net negative for the general election campaign, after saying not too long ago that he would not leave his church - said that in his Philly speech, didn't he? What do you think. |

To be honest, the whole church thing was never a big deal for me.But leaving the church now, should make it a non-issue for the general election.
I just hope that Tuesday night Barack can give his victory speech. ![]() ![]() |
