Yes, I was just trying to imagine Mark in his house over the way, the kids running around (or maybe already asleep), the computer on, the TV probably on with soccer highlights, you know, and him taking in the fact that Rita just agreed with him on that stement. Is he as a result pushed toward the more gleeful end of the continuum, or perhaps in another direction? It is intriguing to consider.

crap classes
PE...let the kiddos have recess, play and learn to socialize. Small kids get PE for 20 minutes and not everyday..they alternate with music and library. It takes 10 minute to get them quiet, call roll, and explain what they are going to do that day. 5 minutes to play and 5 minutes to line up to go back to real school.
Music should be once a week and library should be up to the teacher to bring them in to get a book instead of going on break.
I'm glad I grew up when I did...and learned more than kids do today.

You are taking this way out of context Stewart. You are arguing a point that doesnt really even exist! I have yet to see one example of where this 30 year old "law" is being used to serve student a non-nutrious lunch or breakfast.

I dont think that you and PDS are even arguing the same thing. I dont think PDS is against the program at all, you guys are arguing apples and oranges here...sorry i couldnt resist!

I believe rocker Joe Walsh of the Eagles once announced he was going to run on the "free gas for everybody" platform.

Rita - being an ex-cafeteria lady does NOT make you SOLELY qualified to discuss the reasons for and ramifications of the infamous "ketchup as vegetable" directive or its aftermath.

I think she was refering to this comment:

"The move was done by the Reagan administration to cut out serving "real" vegetables to poor kids who were receiving free lunches. The vegetables were still available in cafeterias and were served to those kids paying for lunch"

I think both paying and non payring kids got the same lunch. I dont think the paying kids got a different lunch. At least not in any school cafeteria I ever ate in. We all ate the same food (if you could call it that) !!

I'm not sure that Lunch Lady Doris would agree with you on that...

Better yet...why don't the whole country quit their jobs and demand welfare, food stamps, free lunches and housing from the govt.?

Here's the deal, as our loony uncle Ross used to say.

This is an issue for every political campaign

Despite lip service to the contrary, in the US we really do not give a shit about youth. We send them to second rate schools, with useless, tattered textbooks, no science labs, little arts or music education and some of us are fine with them having empty stomachs as long as it mean our individual tax burden is lower.

Some of these son-of-a-bitches have the unmitigated gall to claim they are followers of Jesus H.Christ or other religious dudes.

Young people are smart. They know that their society, as a whole, generally does not give a rat's ass about how they are doing, about whether they have enough to eat, a safe place to live, the basics of a minimally decent life.

There is a price to pay for this. It is a high price.

It is not as bad here as in some places, where 12 year olds are given automatic weapons and drugs and are taught to kill the enemy; or where the USA as occupiers have not been able to maintain basic services and safety for children.

There are high prices to pay for this.

If that's all there is my friends
then let's keep dancing
let's break out the booze

Life is the Theatre of the the Absurd
No doubt.

Come back now all ye neo-cons and low tax lovers and tell me how silly my post is. F*ck those young people around the world.

Hundreds of billions for immoral pre-emptive wars
Not much for basic human decency
for human and humane compassion

That is a campaign 2008 issue

Glory be to George and Dick,
Masters of immorality in the public square.

Walsh ran a mock campaign for President in 1980, promising to make "Life's Been Good" [great old song! ] the new national anthem if he won, and running on a platform of "Free Gas For Everyone." Though Walsh was not old enough to actually assume the office, he wanted to raise public awareness of the election.
You think they really believe that last bit? That's from Wikipedia here, btw.

Mind like a sargasso sea, buddy!
