Which room at Barcelo Colonial/Trop?
We are booked for two rooms at the Barcelo and are requesting them to be adjoining if possible. Where would be a good area to be? I would prefer to be close to the beach but I am not sure how the hotel is situated. Thanks

Stayed their last year in the colonial but cant remember the room #.. It was about in the middle of the building so it was a equal walk to the beach and the front lobby / restraunt area.. Hopefully someone on this forum can give you room number ranges. Had a great time by the way.

You will read good and bad about every place down in PDC. It comes down to personal taste. Everyone is different. We stayed at Barceló 4 years ago - great big beach, big resort. My sister loved the beer tap; you can get your own beers all day.
We even got in some good snorkeling in this area - which you cannot do up in Playa del Carmen - I saw a small amount of live coral off the pier. Have fun and stop worrying - you'll have the best time. |

It really is a beautiful place with a beautiful beach. We went in 2004 and have been to 2 other resorts since then and are thinking of going back to the Barcelo this summer. Haven't been since the new addition and would love to check it out. The only thing I don't like is the ride from the airport to the resort. We have always stayed at the resorts around that area and everytime I say I'm going to pick a resort closer, but never do. One day I would love to stay in Playa, but not with kids.......
From what I remember there are not many adjoining rooms. Have you visited the unoffical Barcelo Maya website?? Lots of info for you. Last edited by OkieB : 01-20-2007 at 09:13 PM. |

It is a site like this, where you actually talk to people. When we went to Barcelo I met some really neat people on that site and actually met them at the Barcelo and we are still friends. I love it here to. I actually do more lurking than anything, but its addictive.....

If you want THE best information available on the 'net about the Barcelo (like how many people whine like children who don't get their way in their reviews) you should do your best to navigate that forum because THAT is where you'll find all you need to know about the Barcelo. Nothing difficult about it - just click and read...same as you do here.

Shammy is right ( as per usual) the unofficial Barcelo website is great! The lower your room number the closer you are to the beach. The rooms are 4 digits the last two being the ones that you want to be lower if you want to be close to the water.
ie.....................7310 is closer than 7355.................you really will find all this info on the other website. We have been to resort twice once prior to expansion and once in May of 2006.............loved it both times!! Have fun!!! ![]() |

I am and I am trying to remain optimistic as well!!!
Shammy is our travel agent and she will give us great advice..........we hadn't booked at the Grand Sirenis originally but the resort we booked will not be ready............I will keep reading Trip Advisor and taking all reviews wth a large grain of salt!!!Last edited by btodd : 01-21-2007 at 08:59 PM. |
