Advice from locals...Condo living questions
I leave next week for a month in the area and haven't really had time to do any research on how I will be making my way.
I will have a condo in the area (not sure the exact address, but near 5th) but I would love advice on full time living i.e. Best advice on grocery shopping/cooking? I am an avid cook and don't know the rules about buying/eating local produce. Is there a local gym I can visit? I may have use of a gym at a resort where I will be working but is there one in the area anyone would recommend? What about a Aikido Dojo? How's that for being picky... Best place for wireless internet (free if possible)? What kind of stuff must I bring from the states? I'm planning on buying all kinds of things once I arrive, but I wondered what kind of things people have difficulty finding in the area. Thanks in Advance, Peter www.funnymagic.com |

Hi Peter,
Your show looks good fun, I'm sure you'll please the crowds! Mmm, I see you wearing a fez and you practice magic - then surely you've heard of Tommy Cooper? Take a look at another example British Comedy stage act Gold, 'Men in Coats', on this video (I think you'll enjoy it): http://www.compfused.com/directlink/767/ Ok, now onto your preguntas: Best advice on grocery shopping/cooking? We have big supermarkets (Mega, Walmart, Chedraui that can serve your needs or smaller more traditional local ones like Dak on 30th Ave just North off Constituyentes Avenue. You'll need to get a small bottle of drops to put in the water when you're washing vegetables as the water can't be relied on to drink etc. The source is supposed to meet EU standards now but you can't rely on the pipes and how the water is stored in your building. Washing yourself and brushing teeth isn't a problem - but I don't swallow. Then again there are some frozen vegetables in Walmart and washed boxes of salad. Is there a local gym I can visit? There's 'The Gym' on 1st Ave just South of Constituyentes for example - very contemporary and cool interior. What about a Aikido Dojo? I'm not into Sushi ![]() Best place for wireless internet (free if possible)? Burger King and Vips restaurant on the freeway. Although something on 5th or 10th Avenues would be more convenient for you, but I don't know where. I believe nothing's free. What kind of stuff must I bring from the states? No idea I'm not from the States. However you can get all sorts here. Anything specialist for your act may be tricky, to impossible to find. Anything you can't find leaves you with the option to accept your situation calmly, or go crazy with frustration. Can't you pull anything out of a hat? |
