After "you live in South Dakota," I was thinking about adding "(not that there's anything wrong with that!)"... Your comeback was too quick for me, though. ALL IN GOOD FUN, PEOPLE! Truth be told, and as I think you at least may have in inkling from past posts, I'd be very interested in seeing the Black Hills (and not just on Deadwood, I mean) someday. And it would undoubtedly be easier to follow college hockey from there. Steve P.S. Geez, SCSU has just about matched their shots on goal total from the first 2 periods in just the first few minutes of the third. Maybe they got a fire lit under their butts in the locker room... P.P.S. And there they did match it, and it looks like a turnaround in the momentum, but there are only 5 mins left so unless they can actually put one in the net soon... Looks like we get the split, at least. So Minnesota was off tonight or what?
DU still has 2 games each with Duluth, Mich Tech, North Dakota and CC to finish out the season, with 5 of those 8 at home. Not too terrible a schedule, if they keep themselves focused. We'll get there someday, Cuffed. Bring the whole trio of kids with us. See the Crazy Horse monument, you know. And that other one you all still have up there -- what's that one, again? I forget... Actually there are probably jokes among those of the native persuasion as to which monument might be the real tower of devils... Steve |

Steve, the Sioux simply outplayed us last weekend. Our goal keepers just didn't have it. On Saturday nights game, the gophers tied the score in the 1st period and we had some real momentum going. We(gophers) go on the power play with 2 1/2 minutes left in the period and a Sioux player shoots the puck from in front of his goalie and scores.
Well, we changed goalies and the next thing the know, it's 7-3. I hope the gophers learned something last weekend. PS Gophers need to shoot the puck at the net sometime. All that crazy passing. ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR |

hockey east rules, the new leader in the polls is unh. thanks to the gophers lost weekend. college hockey is the best. we live 15 minutes from umass lowell and catch as many games as possible. the commisioner of hockey east, joe bertagna was my high school history teacher his first year out of harvard. i just found this thread, thanks for starting it up steve.

If you'll allow me, I remember a certain series when I was at DU -- this would be circa 1987 -- when (again) DU and Minnesota were both big stuff. I was the king of the bleacher bums, baby, with the biggest and loudest voice of 'em all (really -- ask people who were there and they'll tell ya!), and it just so happens my girlfiend of the time was from the Twin Cities and decided she'd get a bit wild and woolly herself and accompany me to the first of the 2 weekend games. I believe one or both teams had already been on top of the rankings already that season, or were certainly way up there, as now. And DU just exploded, going up 5-0 in the first period. Those were the days... Quote:
I think you're also quite mistaken about Hockey East, mind you, as opposed to the (again) mighty WCHA, but hey, no worries! Good for UNH. They'll be the next ones to be toppled, then. Steve |

Let's see, who would the current defending National Champions be.....?......Oh yes! My Wisconsin Badgers!! I wouldn't look for them in the Frozen Four this year, but watching them win it last year form the MGM Sports Book in Vegas was quite sweet! The Badger Women's Hockey team is National Champs as well, the football team finished 5th in the AP poll, and the basketball team is currently #2 in the nation. All is well in Madison, but I gotta think the Gophers will be a better bet to be Frozen Four-bound. Good thread, Steve! Cheers, Doc

This year looks promising as UNH is #1 in all polls as well as the pair-wise rankings. But as we all know, time will tell--the rest of the schedule features Maine, BC and BU..always challenging games. GO BLUE |
