RIU Palace Riviera Maya kid friendly?

I've never stayed at a Riu, just wondering if this new resort is kid friendly and do they have a lot for kids to do? We've stayed at the Lindo and I am looking for something different but on the same level of service and food as the Lindo. We like the orientation of the beach and pool here vs the Lindo. Is the beach still there or has it eroded? Thanks in advance for your help.

Jeanne, I already replied to you via e mail but just in case anyone else wants to know....

I can't say that either Riu Palace is kid friendly, but the Palace Riviera Maya seems to have more kids booked there than the Palace Mexico. Again, it doesn't mean the resort is "kid friendly" but people will take kids to whatever resort THEY want to go to. The fact is that neither property caters to families, these are not family friendly resorts and with kids that are the ages of yours Jeanne, I wouldn't suggest this resort, not unless you were aware of all this going in.

And no, the beach has not come back at the Palace Riviera Maya - and no idea if it ever will...without help that is. Then again, beaches change so perhaps they'll get lucky. I just can't see it coming back as it was without some major fixing up though...the erosion is pretty bad in this area

Shammy, you seem to be the one in the know so could you tell me where I should head from the RPRM to get to a decent beach. We'll be there from Feb 10-17 and I like laying at the pool, but there's nothing like laying on the white sand.

If anyone else has anything either good or bad to share about this hotel I would appreciate it. Not that I can change my reservations but I like to know as much as possible.

Thanks in advance.....

Wander down to the Riu Palace Mexico, it's only about 5 or ten minutes, and use their beach. As a Palace Riviera Maya guest you have access to all the other Rius in the area. The Palace Mexico is very similar to the RPRM, same type of restaurants (except no Mexican specialty), service etc. I have friends who stayed there first of January with kids and they loved it, but for the kids sake they spent the second week of their vacation at the Tequila.
I saw some of his pics and there was some beach returned, people were in swimming, and the beach lounge area between the wall and the pools had been restored.

Thanks Jobob for the info. We stayed at the Palace in 2002. I thought that the RPRM would be closer then 5 or 10 mins from the Palace. Oh well I guess I'll get my exercise.

There are five resorts between the two Riu Palaces. So how ever long that would take you to walk.
