dkb: try to take at least one in front of each of the resorts from the Reef (north) to Sandos (south). You may not be able to access many north of the Playacar though. You might only be able to get as far as the Occidental Allegro. I haven't seen any new ones for over a month.

Beach in front of RIU Palace Mexico
There is a new picture on Trip Advisor of the beach in fron of the RIU Palace Mexico and it looks a lot better than some of the previous pictures have looked! Hopefully it is getting better because we are going to be there September 30 thru October 7 and there are 8 of us who all love the beach!

I took a ton of pics but have not uploaded them just yet. (we got back this evening). We started at Sandos Playacar and walked down as far as my husband felt like walking. I don't remember all the names of the resorts but I will post pics in the order that I took them.

We stayed at Sandos Playacar from July 8-14th. I don't know for sure the names of all the resorts so if any of you know, I will post them with my pics.
Starting with before Sandos Playacar where Sandos Suites will be located: (looking away from Sandos) Looking toward Sandos Sandos Playacar IB right next to Sandos Riu (not sure which one Yucatan or Palace) not sure which resort I wanted to walk further but my husband refused to do it so that's all you are getting I can say that the beach at Sandos was the best of the developed resorts on that stretch that we saw. There is obvious erosion and there is a drop off before you hit the water's edge on some of the beaches.

...i believe the picture with the jet skis on the left is the yucatan's beach looking north...and the picture below that is the very north end of the yucatan, where it joins with the riu palace mexico beach...the massage hut is for the riu tequila guests, and the building you see behind that is the tequila's beach club...wow, those sands are always changing...the beaches at the iberostar and the sandos property being developed seem more narrow than they did in may...

The last pic is at the edge of the Palace Mexico and Viva Maya. Looks like it's slowly coming back and time to book again. I agree with Rainbow it seems the IB and Sandos beaches are quite a bit narrower than they were last December when we were at the RPM.
