Very sad indeed. Although the sun is still shining and the water is still shimmering. We will have a great time anyway, perhaps parasail off the 'cliffs of playacar' in front of our hotel.
We go in 8 days with our cousins - it is their first trip down to PDC - my dumb luck the beach would look this way. We saw this happen about 8 years ago but in front of Iberostar. I know the beaches will return; don't suppose they will in 8 days though. We can always walk south past Sandos - Thanks for the pic's, they are similar to what I saw on webshots. Wow! Shammy, that's amazing! I have never seen the beaches at the AIs look quite like that. How disappointing for the folks in Playacar's hotel zone. The beaches in town (north of the ferry dock) seem to widening as of late. It is amazing the changes in our beach topography from month to month. It is also interesting to note the differences in topography in the different areas along the Riviera Maya. Those pics are so dramatic. Good to know that mother nature will fix it in time.

I saw recent pictures on tripadvisor for Tucan/Quetzal tonight. Looks good still. That is the mystery of this strip of beach, one part of the beach goes and other parts stay. As I said earlier about 8 years ago Tucan/Quetzal lost their beach - now its back.
