Two things though, it can't be something that has to be bought at a beauty supply store, there isn't one where I live. Also, I really don't want to spend a lot of money on it...a lot to me is...more than $12. It seems crazy to me to spend $15-20 or more on hairspray, maybe that's just me.
Victoria Secrets (maybe you have one near you or order online) sells a great hairspray; it's from their So Sexy line. You can generally catch it onsale and buy three of their So Sexy products (shampoo, conditioner and hairspray) for $21.00 or individual for $9.00 each. This product is soft and smells like a girly girl. I LOVE it.

So... has anyone else ever tried these things:

If not, DON'T DO IT!!!

I bought these back in the states months ago thinking they might come in handy some skimpy-top-wearing day and last Sunday, they did. I had to trim them down a bit to fit under that particular blouse and, for the most part, I was more comfortable than braless and less worried I was gonna fall outa my shirt.

Then I came home and tried to take them off.

There's a little note on there that says they have to be dry when you do that. Dry in August is pretty much impossible here, but I did my best. To make a long story short... I still have the marks the damn things left. I didn't have the baby oil they suggest to help dissolve the glue, so I tried vaseline. It did nothing. I ended up ripping the %#$@ things off and crying. To make matters worse, they stick extra well in particularly sensitive areas.

Don't say you haven't been warned!

Just wanted to bump this thread up...I have a question...who out there has done laser hair removal?
It is currently the big thing in my group of women friends to get your pits and hoo ha done....I am considering it. I guess it takes about 3-5 sessions, depending on the person, $100 for bikini/brazilian and $75 for underarm (per visit). Totally worth it to me to never have to shave again, or worry about razor or wax rash, etc.
Any feedback or tips?
How painful is it? One woman told me the pain is 'close to childbirth' and the other one said hardly at all painful!

Don't have an answer for Maggie, but any have a really good deep conditioner for after coloring your hair? I have been using the Alberto VO5 Reconstructing or something like that. I like it real well, but was wondering if there was something better.

I just use a deep conditoner from Pantene for coloured hair, Belinda. I have very thick and coarse hair, and I only wash it 2-3 times a week, that makes the colour stay longer too.I wash it at night and then leave the conditioner in overnight and rinse it out in the morning.

I recently went a lot darker than my normal light blonde...the upkeep is too much and I tend to be brassy, so now I think I will stick with the darker colour with blonde highlights, it's more natural on me.

hey, there is an idea!
The girl who said it was super painful never had the cream they give you...I guess it numbs the area but you need to wait an hour at least for it to work the best?

I had to respond to this thread, because besides having my gardening business, I've been a hairdresser for over 20 YIKES! years...
I absolutely LOVE the Joico Kerapro deep moisturizing reconstructor, it makes your hair feel like silk. They also have a product called Integrity which is a spray on/leave in light detangler/conditioner, which also has a sunscreen in it. Great for the beach... And their Joico Ice finishing hairspray is light enough to run your fingers through so you're not a helmet head, but it holds well too. Also the Shaper by Sebastien, and the smell is very light, nothing like that nasty old lady hairspray smell!!! I use the Joico Silk Results shampoo and conditioner, they're for color treated hair, and they have one for fine, limp hair, and one for thick coarse hair. The Chi product line is the best too, as far as blowers and irons, make sure you ALWAYS use a little smoothing oil before you flat iron, keeps the hair from getting too dry, plus the iron seals the oil right into the cuticle of your hair, so it's like a mini conditioning treatment. And if you're sitting on the beach, slick your hair into a ponytail with a dollop of heavy conditioner, the sun will work just like a dryer and bake it in. It works great!

I'm sorry for laughing but I have had it done down here and will explain in a moment.

It's much cheaper here than in the US, from what I've heard. Complete removal in the US cost $900 (if I remember correctly) for a friend of mine (for bikini area). I paid about $300US each for bikini and underarm.

Now, the reason I'm laughing... I started the bikini treatments about 2 years ago and I'm still going! (Every 3 weeks, more or less.) I'm guessing the pricing you got may be just for a certain number of visits and, depending on your situation, those may not be enough to get you where you wanna be. Hair growth is cyclical and it takes several growth cycles to "hit" all the roots. Thankfully, that initial money I spent covers all visits until the removal is complete. Mine is mostly done, but not completely, and I will keep going until it's all gone. The underarms I started later, and that happened much more quickly. But still, well more than 3-5 visits. Regardless, it's been worth it to me. I always had issues both with shaving and waxing and I was starting to become obsessive about it, living down here and being in a swimsuit so often.

But you can NOT expose the area to sun during the time you are having the treatments done. I use 30 sunblock in that one location (gotta remember to put it on before I go out so people don't think I'm a perv on the beach ) If the skin is tanned, it will hurt like the dickens and potentially burn you. Otherwise, the pain is no worse than waxing and probably better. To me, it feels like hairs-width staples are being inserted quickly into your skin. But the pain is only there during each zap... it's not continuous or anything. I have used xylocaine (sp?) before I've gone, taken half a percocet, had a glass of wine and, now, just bite the bullet and cringe. It's a crazy experience to have someone else that you aren't... um... intimate with... so intimate with you! Especially for the... um... part you have to turn over to get to. Oh, and blond or light hairs will remain as the laser has no effect on them. So if you're fair-haired or turning silver , don't expect much of a result.

Like I said though, I have no regrets.

Maggie, we have a lazer hair removal company that sub leases out of our spa. I personally can not have it done because I have blonde hair. As far as pain goes, I hear its just a mild tolerable pain. It helps if the equipment they are using has a cooling system on it. The cooling system helps to lower the temperature of the skin, which is suppose to help with the pain. Good luck.

Thanks Susie and monte.

Hmm....2 years later and still not done huh, Susie. That's not really good news is it?

Two of them are 'done' their underarms and they do think they are done for good after 3 sessions for one and 4 for the other....they went once a month. But, it has only been a couple months, maybe they will have to go again.

I have 2 tattoos, but I don't really like pain ...I will have to think about it! Thanks!

OH Susie my wife was so excited about this... until this part. Coming from a girl who used to color her eyebrows lightly with eyeliner pencil so she would look like she had some. She has now embraced her White Blonde brows...but it seems the carpet will have to continue to match the drapes and the shaving will continue.

I wonder why it wont work on the Blonde hairs? If you remember to ask next time, post it back here. Maybe its just that they have never seen a blonde for it to work on. Not many Blondes down there(double meaning alert!!)

Susie, I would love your info. 600 bucks for me to never have to shave my armpits again, or bikini? I could save up for that. I have serious shaving issues, especially in the bikini area, and get ingrown hairs/rash all the time. It looks REALLY pretty, especially when you're blue-white and overweight like I am.

And I'm not afraid of pain, my tattoo has taught me that.

It's called the Perfection Center and it's in what used to be Amerimed on Bonampak in Cancun, adjacent to Plaza las Americas on the south. Try to go after 3pm if you can. The girl who works before then has burned me a few times now and isn't all that thorough or careful.
