Dont you hate it when that happens! Or a bad haircut, even when you show a picture of what you want. Sometimes my stylist just does what he wants or what he thinks will look best and it's not always what I like.

I hope that she will not charge you again to re-do it.

I am so mad at my stylist right now, I have been letting my side layers grow out and what does she do - but take to much off the side last time I went in for a cut. I swear I did not notice her doing this or I would have said something.

She is such a great colorist, I hate to try some one else. But she is not listening to me when I tell her I want to let some of the layers grow out (so I dont have to get it cut every six weeks)

How do you tell your stylist of 12+ years you are not going back to her ? Do you just stop going and slink away hoping you never run into her ?

Good luck! Last year I went darker with pink highlights! Just a crazy phase but it was fun for the three months I had it. Now I am back to normal. If my stylist could get me back to normal I think you will be okay.

Yeah I'm not gonna pay for it again.. No way...

I've had this happen to me a few times now... Makes me soo mad because if there is something I think about in my appearance it's my hair

Luv2Dance - I've never had pink hair.. !!! you are brave.. I think she can get me back to normal.. I just know I'll never go back to that salon again..

About 13 years ago I had my MIL (who owned a shop at the time) cut my hair. Told her I wanted soft bangs and I wound up looking like Sandy on Grease. I was so upset. Of course, I sucked it up and didn't complain but I think she got the hint when I went to another stylist later on that year. By the way, I love my MIL. We just don't do hair together anymore.

I let my layers grow out.. I just told her that I didn't want layers anymore and if she could just please cut at the bottom.. she did.. she was not happy.. but I was..
Now I have some layers again.. my hair looked so dead without them..

12+ years is a long time.. Might get a little personal..
That's why i change a stylist all the time..

I think it was easier to leave my ex-husband than my old stylist. I had been with her for 12 yrs. I really felt like I was cheating on her. But, I did call and tell her the truth. (On her answering machine)

Ha! I know the feeling! Mine also does excellent coloring too and sometimes he gets 'scissor happy' too! I had been wanting to let my hair grow long and everytime I went for color he would convince me that he HAD to cut some off to keep it healthy. Yeah right. So I cheated on him Tappy. I went somewhere else at one time to get my color and the girl did a good job for nearly half of what he charges me. I think he thinks he's Jose Hebert sometimes.
Well, anyhoo, wouldn't you know that I bumped into him at the supermarked one day and the whole time we were talking he kept looking at my hair but didn't say anything about it. I was feeling very uncomfortable, so I finally told him that I went somewhere else because I needed an appointment quickly for a special occasion and that his receptionist had said, when I had called, that he didn't have any openings for the next few days! I lied! And he said: "Oh...that's ok, it will make you want to come back to me all that much more." What an ego!

Just like with any other relationship, needs and wants change and 12 years is a long time to be with one stylist! Just tell her that you feel like she's not really hearing what it is that you want and that you were very upset after your last cut. See what she has to say. If she's not open or capable of adapting her style to yours then it's time to move on. Being in the 'biz' for 11 years now I can tell you it happens on both sides of the relationship...I've let clients go when I feel like they arent respectful of my time or professional opinions or if I feel that what they want is not within my philosophy of skin care....sometimes I send them to someone who I think fits them better, sometimes they beg to come back, sometimes they don't. Its ticky because its both a personal and professional relationship, but play to her professionalism with this issue.

Maybe your friend thinks the polish will wear better on the gels. Easier maintenance while traveling?
I think she just likes the look of them...she is only going for a week; I find with a pedi, my toes look goood for the entire two week vacation, if I do a topcoat...and I just bring the polish with me in case of chips. I just couldn't be bothered, for toes.

And I can relate, Coccinelle, to the 'too long' toenails look- ewww! I like them if they are fairly short though, but I like coloured polish better too.
Taps, I have only ever had gel nails...but I never found they really did much long term damage when I removed them, I have done it twice. It only took about a month and they were back to normal, just a little weaker than before, but it was temporary.

That's a male stylist for you. But to his defense...more often than not people do beg to come back.

Yep...11 years this month. Even after all the crazy shite I've seen/heard, even after waxing hundreds of bikinis, backs and other unmentionables , and even after being propositioned by a few drunk and nekkid men AND women I still love what I do....its never boring
