Girlie Girls' Beauty Thread!!

Thought that it would be a good idea to start this thread (hope there isn't one already) 'cause I am such a girlie girl when it come to make-up and stuff. Plus, Carole gave us some recommendation on the PMP thread and it would be nice to carry it a little further.

OK girls! What are your favorite beauty supplies that you can't live without and why? It could be anything from lipstick, mascara, creams & lotions, foundation, nail polish, hair product, perfume etc...

I never used to consider myself a girlie-girl, but since there ARE things I can't do without, perhaps I am one! And that list is getting bigger these days...

I absolutely do not show my face out in public without mascara on. ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS. I'm a natural redhead so my eyelashes are also a shade of red that makes it look like I don't have any without mascara.

I RARELY go anywhere without lip gloss/lipstick. There are five or six in my car, in John's car, in my purse, every jacket pocket, the downstairs bathroom, upstairs bathroom... freaking' lipstick everywhere!

Just lately I've been getting my nails done...acrylics/gels. I had it done for the first time before this past trip, and I am loving them and will keep them going. It is so much easier, no worries about painting, filing, etc (which I never did so they always looked so awful!).

Hi T!! Thanks for popping in on this thread! Yes, it does count. What kind?

Would be interesting to know what scent the ladies prefer their man to wear and vice versa. Do you have a preference Tee?

Okay here goes:

Not too much of a girly girl on makeup and scented stuff. I get the Estee Lauder makeup tray every year for Christmas from the Grandparents so I'm covered there...

I love:

Jason Organics E.F.A lotion

Philosphy's 'Falling in Love' fragrance and body wash

Joico Hair shampoo/conditioner/ and hair products

My new Chi Farouk straightening iron - AWESOME!

Chi Ion Hair Dryer (dries my hair in 1/2 the time and is softer with less damage!) I LOVE THIS THING!!
.

Oh yea...and OPI or Essie nailpolish

Aww sheesh... now this... nice turnover, C.

Well... here goes:
I use Nivea after shave Balm right after shaving (go figure).
Then I use either an Armani eau de toilette or Van Gils eau de toilette (recommendable Dutch brand).
So there!

Try the Chi hair oil to..it works great on the ends of your hair if your hair gets dry from to much straightening.

My favorite make up (and I have tried all kinds) - was the new vital radiance line by Revlon, they are now discontinuing it, so I guess I will go back to the overpriced Clinque !

I tried Bare Minerals, but had a terrible allergic reaction to it.

I can't live without Aveda hydrating face lotion. It's the best and I have tried Clinique, Lancome and some others. If you have dry skin this is the best.
I am also addicted to lip gloss, I have one in every purse, bathroom and in my car. I just ordered a bunch of Victoria Secret lipglosses for $5 each, they are ok.

Mac is my favorite makeup, excluding the mascara. It's cheap here in Canada because it's made here. I remember going to buy some in Bangkok and an eyeshadow was $26 buck and here in Canada it goes for $14.

I just started using this new mascara called Kiss Me. the package says "stop painting you lashes....tube them" It will not come off unless warm water is applied and then it comes off in tubes, no mess! Great for the tropics. A bit expensive and not available in everywhere.

A great store in Vancouver called Beauty Mark on Hamilton St. in Yaletown. They sell products that are from all over the world and hard to find. They carry a lot of products that you would see recommended in magazines.

Where is this Chi product available? Would love to try the oil and the blow dryer.

I love MAC makeup as well. The only thing I wear on my face that is not MAC is powder foundation. Because I have a variety of issues with my skin I find that mineral foundation works best. MAC had some for a while but didn't continue with it. I love Jane Iredale but it is expensive. I started using Cover FX which seems to work well as well and is less expensive.

For my hair, I use Marc Anthony hair products. I just started straightening my hair and it helps keep my hair really soft and shiny. The Gloss and Diamond Shine Gloss is really great to add shine and protect my hair from the flat iron.

I haven't quite figured out the best skin care products yet. I was using expensive salon stuff but now I am trying Olay Regenerist. I need a few more weeks I think before I can determine if it is working for me.

I buy it at Drug Emporuium - sort of like a discount beauty/drug store.

I am sure you can get it on online or at a beauty supply store.

I love good ole Oil of Olay for my face moisturizer. I have been using forever. I don't wear alot of makeup, only eyeliner, and I just get the cheapo stuff. Though I do have a supply of Lancom(sp) stuff (bronzer, lipstick, mascara, etc) that I bought for m wedding. i rarely use it unless I have to get all gussied up.

I can't live with out my lipgloss. I have them everywhere like Ginger. I have been using the Bath and Body works kind with SPF 15. Since it is winter I am using the Vanilla bean. When I go to Playa, I'll be bringing a couple if mango flavors. My flavors change with the season

okay, I have some more I rememberd after reading the other posts...

My 12 year old daughter got me hooked on these calgon body sprays...I really like the Hawaian Ginger. It just makes you feel so fresh...

I love smelly body butter also, and I like Mango from Bath&Body and Vanilla from there as well. Makes me smell yummy!

I love my Ionic hairdryer, like CMS said...my thick long hair dries in half the time. I also like my ceramix straightening iron..and I only use a ceramix professional curling iron, it curls way better in half the time.

I also rely on Shaper hair spray, I love that it holds my hair without feeling tacky or sticky.

And finally I use Silk Therapy for the hair frizzies. Hair is SOOO smooth after using it.

I don't know if I belong with the likes of such beautiful ladies, and most likely I am not a real 'girlie-girl.' I kind of consider myself more of the tom-boy type. I guess I use some beauty supplies, mostly in the hope that it balances me out a little more, and makes me a little more of a girlie-girl.

I have golden blonde (or lighter) bottom lashes, and straight brownish-black upper lashes...so I usually use brownish-black mascara on bottom lashes (just so they match , and for special occasions curl and apply mascara to my top lashes. Oh yes, just a wee-bit of eyeliner on the bottom lashes, and some Burts' Bees blush on my facial cheekbones.
When I remember , I use a great lipgloss from L'Oreal-a Brilliant Shine (Adoring 578)
On Fridays, I may put some sparkly eye shadow Wet'n'Wild MegaEyes.

When I remember, or my skin feels like some type of reptile , I use these moisurizers: Cocoa butter (who can resist smelling like chocolate all day?), Oil of Olay firming reviver, and Este Lauder eye creme, and Banana Boat SPF 8 (I love the smell of it) when I am going to be outside for any length of time.
