Cripes, I just broke a freakin' tooth.
Don't believe my count down, we are actually leaving 2 days earlier, now I have to get a tooth refilled, temp. crowned, root canaled? Who knows
And, I can't even blame the food, it was pasta with mushrooms, shallots and prosciutto in a cheesy cream sauce. Just when I thought things for the trip were wrapping up. And, it is the busiest week of the month at work, my boss will not be pleased when I inform him that I'm taking the earliest possible appointment so I don't totally shred my tounge (ooh, wouldn't that feel good with the first inevitable gulp of salt water )Thanks for letting me vent

this just happened to me also (a couple of weeks ago)
the dentist made it smoother for me by grinding the sharp parts and I am getting a crown when I get back from Playa I guess I am lucky, no pain or sensitivity As Rita said, don't panic, that may be all you need for now |

most dental offices leave only a few appointments for emergencies..and Monday is the busiest...call this weekend and leave a message now..that you have broken your tooth, and leaving town and need to come in asap. Hopefully you will beat any others to the punch and get that appointment. I used to work chairside so I'm not crazy...I have filed my own teeth this way and gotten alot of relief till getting into the dental office. |

Funny - if I would have suggested that he call the dentist and leave a message, he would have thought I was being silly...but he'll listen to anything a Peep says on the Forum!

A diamond deb file is just a brand nail for a name file..(drugstores should have it) it has diamond dust in it (same as dental drills) and is more effecient than an emery board. A emory file will work too..just not as fast. Be sure and buff afterwards and good luck getting into the dentist. If he has problems, there are several good dentists in Playa that can help him out...Dr. Armente is one of them and if you do a search you can get the names of several other dentists in the area.

Glad you found a dentist so fast. A similar thing happened to me at the airport on the way to Playa. I went all the way to Playa with a broken tooth. When I returned I went to the dentist and he told me of the nail file and also suggested using a temp filing product available at the drug store. You can replace a missing filing with this stuff and it stays in your tooth even while eating.
