I don't remember for sure - it told me my work computer needed more hard drive space and a newer graphics card. Not sure what the minimum configs were, though.

Well it depends again on what version you are going to get...I should have just get the premium but worked paid for it so I went with the Ultimate because it had a few features that the premium did not have as far as business stuff.....I now have to scan every doc I get into an archive folder on my computer and since there are alot of socials security numbers DL numbers involved I wanted to make sure everything was encrypted.....Plus Vista is two days old and will only get better with time just like XP did......I also think you can uncheck the first four things you listed in your start up and see what happens......Also control alt delete and check out your performance.....Memory usage and CPU usage......

OK, just to check: can Mac users post on this thread, or is it like Rita's "smokers' rant" thread?

OH, well, I see Roni is here, so it must be OK.

For the record, a quick, simple shot of those off my messy desktop just now:

I think maybe Mac users are just mildly amused by Vista (if they've even heard of it, which I hadn't until recently). It just confirms the Mac user's current world view, really: that the PC world is behind and trying to catch up or copy the cool stuff already there and in use for a while on Macs. And that's fine. We have a very live and let live attitude over here in Maclandia.

Also it's kinda funny to read positive comparisons of the just-barely-released Vista with Tiger (Mac OS 10.4), as Tiger has already been out for a while but moreover, Leopard (10.5), the improvement on Tiger, is due relatively soon. And you know that if Apple knows how to do something well, it's an attention getting release and presentation that will steal Microsoft's thunder.

It doesn't seem to be bothering them a lot. Maybe they think, hey, a lot easier for us to gain!

Poor Thor... His people go and take over Scotland, but a millenium later, they're buying PCs from there.

Well, you may be right about that, Steve. But I was wrong. My new PC is coming from Irland.

For goodness sakes Steve If you have had that six day forecast available you should post it every six days......

Vista is a ripp off of the Mac OS for sure.....As far as visual......Widgets......Gadgets.......Come on.......You know what they say about copying someone/something.....It's the biggest form of flattery......

Also must say I like the way the forecast looks.......

Microsoft has been working with Vista for five years. They showed some of the things they now are accused of stealing from Apple before Apple came with them.

Dashboard was a stand alone application from many years ago.
