Don't believe the negative hype about Vista

The hardest thing about upgrading to Vista from XP was getting the DVD's out of the box they came in......It is a stunning OS and faster then XP.....I upgraded to the Ultimate version......It was super easy but did take some time for it to install....But remember XP takes up two gigs of space Vista Ultimate takes up eleven.....If you get the DVD version it comes with two DVD's one for 32 bit and one for 64 bit.....If you get the CD version it comes with five CD's......You do have to have a workhorse of a machine to run the ultimate but less for the basic and home versions.......I remember all the negative hype about SE, ME, XP so it just seems to follow....I did have a couple of software applications that did have issues.....Screen Shot Maker and an FTP software application.....Other then that everything works perfect.....Also remember with any new install you need to go into Start/Run/MSCONFIG/Selective Startup/ and uncheck almost everything that is checked in startup and services.....That is why a computer seems to be soooooo sloooooow after an install of a new OS.....Once you have done that you will be blown away how fast your computer will be....No matter what OS you might run......Also this is different then XP....Some things you will recognize but some things are new and you will have to learn......Overall it blows XP out of the water.....

Did you install the 32 bit or the 64 bit version? Any thoughts about it?

There is so much you can do with this OS that it will take a month or two to learn everything and tweak it......But it really is awesome......The icons on the right or gadgets and you can customize them how you like....I have the temp, calendar, Slideshow of pics, and the top ten new stories....

My laptop came with a rebate form for a free upgrade thru HP...I just went to thte site and it says the upgrade orders will be available in Jan and to check back...errmmmm somebody ought to tell them tomorrow ends Jan!

I'm hoping the site will allow a download otherwise it says it could take up to 17 wks to receive the CD's.

I heard very good stuff by independent sources on the Lehrer Newshour tonight....I got a kick outta the fact that they say about 35 of the "new" features were stolen from Mac OS....the CEO of Microsoft responded..."we get good ideas from wherever we can".....good for him!

Thanks for the info Mikey, a girl can dream, but if Tommy's puter won't handle it, mine is surely hopeless! .
