From what I've read, this campaign wasn't only in Boston -- but Boston is the only city where there was an issue.
I can't believe in this day and age that the ad agency or Turner Broadcasting did not have the courtesy/intelligence to go through proper channels to alert the local law enforcement in each city before putting these "signs" up everywhere. First of all, to protect their investment in the campaign and its materials; second, to act as responsible US citizens. I hope they are hit with a whopping tab for all the expense the city of Boston incurred. But whatever they end up paying, you cannot buy publicity like that! |

They said they did it in several other cities in the same way, but Boston was the only one that reacted that way. In post-911 America, I gotta wonder why? I'm happy that Boston scrambled to action right away. I wonder why we never heard anything about the other cities. If I lived in one of those cities, I'd wonder how vigilant my public authorities are about REAL threats to the public safety.

I just think the police could have figured out what was going on without all the hoopla.... course if one of these things blow up then I guess I'm wrong..

I'm sure the police did what they thought was right. Was there an over-reaction? Yes. How do we avoid it? My stance is obvious if you've read some of my other posts. Last edited by dartay; 02-01-2007 at 01:18 PM. |

No just that if everything little thing is going to spark some controversy then the terrorists have won, because you're no longer living your life, if everytime you see something "electronic" the first thought into your head is it must be a bomb. Just my opinion, if my time comes it comes.

If all the commotion was the day they set the stupid things out thats one thing, but to try and recoop on expenses incurred because someone over reacted. I don't buy it. Certainly the ads were in poor taste. I'm not defending that. |
