Learning Spanish...
I know alot of people on here bought books, dvds, tapes, signed up for classes online and in person...etc etc etc....
I'm curious to find out what your progress is? And how you feel about the particular program or method you chose to learn by?? Updates please!! |

My Idea..was that someone would make a post in Spanish...simple things...and the translate it into english....Maybe Have Playa del Sol, James, Ryberg, Sol and any other Spanish Speakers correct and help out. Maybe Post some rules of Spanish... Like: ll = y z=S or whatever... Calle- (ka-ye) ?? maybe we can all learn something! I know that Spanish is written in pronunciation!!! so if you can read it you can speak it...even though you may not know what it means.. I always read the translation on signs or handouts...Like on an airplane it has it in English and Spanish.. James and I were laughing one day in Playa about how bad the translations are from Spanish to English on all the signs...It was really funny...yes we had a little buzz but it was fun!!! Like: Donde esta el Bano? Where is the bathroom? |

Funny you mention reading the handouts in Spanish Tommy - I have a tendency to do the same! We were at the Tower of London a while back and I took a leaflet in Spanish and told John what I thought it said, then he read it to me in English to see how close I was...not that we're short on entertainment or anything
But anyway, I think it's a great idea especially for things you might need to communicate with a reception etc - I have trouble remembering words like pillow = almohadilla sheet = hoja (de cama) blanket = manta (feel free to correct my european Spanish into a more Mexican version) .....and PLEASE can someone tell me the correct way to refer to t.p. in Mexican Spanish - I never had any trouble getting any in Spain but for some reason my Mexican maids have struggled to understand me! |

Well I think that is an excellent idea Tommy!
Anything to help us gringos as we struggle along with our spanish lessons lol I joined a class locally and last night was my first lesson, it was actually not that bad! But then again I am starting at level 1 so the lesson plan consisted mostly of how to say Buenes Noches and Hola and Addios etc...lol |
