RPR Ocean Front Suite Questions
Hi everyone! This is just my second post, but I've been reading these forums for a while now and really love this site.
We're arriving at the RPR (I guess the Royal Playa del Carmen now) on 2/7 and have an Ocean Front room booked. From what I understand from reading other posts, we should be able to do the online check-in at midnight as Sunday turns to Monday. So, that would mean we'd be doing it right after we watch the Colts win the Superbowl. I've seen the map that one of the posters was so kind to upload. For those of you who have stayed there, do you think there's a "best" building for Ocean Front Suites? (Looks like the building are called, from south to north, Coba, Tulum, and Uxmal). Also, I saw on one picture that some balconies have hammocks and others do not. Do the ones with hammocks still have a table and chairs? I would love to drink my coffee on the balcony in the morning, but don't want to miss out on a hammock nap later in the day either! Since I'll probably have more than a few beers in me after the Superbowl, I thought I should have a plan in place before doing the online check-in. Thanks in advance for your help! I'm REALLY looking forward to my trip - just me and my husband without the kids for the first time!! |

Thanks Shammy! So, then do you know how I would make sure that I get one with a hammock? Is that something that's indicated while you're doing online check-in? .....Smoking/Non?, King/Double?, Hammock/No Hammock?
With the buildings, I just was wondering if the rooms themselves differed, or if any were better/worse in terms of their proximity to other things in the resort. (e.g., closer to lobby, too close to noise, etc.). |

There was no online check in before I arrived so I can't tell you if you'll have info about hammocks when you pick your room - but I doubt it. Bed type, smoking/non - those things you'll see.
Any oceanfront room is going to be the furthest room from the lobby and most of the ala carte restaurants. Pelicanos restaurant is on the beach and there is also a pool bar close to the beach. The resort is small so you're not more than a few minutes walk away from ANYTHING no matter where you're located. Really, don't sweat the small stuff as in which building is closer to something than another. All oceanfront rooms are going to be great no matter which building they're in. |

Thanks Shammy, debk, and gtz, for replying. I promise I won't sweat the small stuff once I'm there. I just can't stop thinking about the trip as it gets closer, so the little questions occur to me. Thanks for indulging me!

If memory serves, the hammocks are detachable..There are hooks in the ceiling, where they can be attached...So it would not be a biggie to call the front desk and get a hammock brought to your room...Or sneak ,crawl over to your neighboring deck and steal their's...NOT

Wow, that's cool! I didn't realize you'd get so much detail in making the choice. Thanks Kavi! I'm really glad to hear you had a good trip.
And thanks for your info litenlarry. It must have had an effect on me b/c last night I dreamt I was checking into the room and there was no hammock, but I was relieved to look up and see the hooks and then remembered your advice.

Hi all, I too have booked an oceanfront room at the first of August. We are non smokers. Any chance we can find a non smoking room in the middle building or the one to the north? Also, is there an elevator nearby for the oceanfront rooms? Thanks for your help.

When we used online checkin it looked to me like they had more non-smoking rooms than smoking. Saw elevators in every building we were in although never needed one, since we were on ground level. |

So on the online check in, you get to see the view from the balcony for the specific room your are looking at. Therefore, you will see different views based on what floor you are on???? Or, are they all the same view but just broken down by oceanfront, oceanview.
