Catalonia Royal Tulum (Copacabana)
Would appreciate any info from anyone who may have been to the former Copacabana since the catalonia took over? I have read old posts, and am curious if everything is the same? I know the change just happened recently, But we were really wanting to book the Barcelo Maya until this resort popped up. for us a very good deal. For what we were going to basically pay for 5 at the Barcelo we can take an extra adult ( graduation present) for the same price for a total of 6 people. I know it is a step down and not comparing resorts but can take along an 18 yr. old that we raised for 11 years of his life and what an awesome trip/ graduation gift!! And if you know anything about the Catalonia resorts in general that info would be helpful as well. Thanks
Bye the way we are planning our trip in June.KC |

There have just been some refurbishments as far as room decor and paint - but whatever you read about the Copa will apply to the new resort as well. The Catalonia folks actually took over the first week of December. Nothing much has changed. You're right not to compare it to the Barcelo, it is a bit of a step down...but it's not a bad resort either - beach is great! Just think about what you paid vs. what you're getting and you should be fine.

I have been to the Copacabana twice but before Catalonia took over. I agree with Shammy, the beach is fantastic. Long stretch of beach to walk on and don't forget to stop in at Cafe del Mar. Yummy food and cold cervesas. I felt it was a good value.

I am looking at an apple vacation book from last summer. Just trying to figure out hote options. Are you talking about The Copacabana Beach Resort? Last summer Apple gave this hotel a 5 golden apple award which is a very good hotel. We are looking for a nice beach and clean hotel for this summer. We love the RIU Playacar, but are leary of the beach erosion.

The 180º panorama was done by taking all the different pictures (making sure they overlap a bit) and then stitching them together to form one picture. For the Copa beach panorama I used the Olympus stitching software that came with the camera I was using at the time, an Olympus C-2100UZ Now with my new Nikon camera, I use another program (you can get it for free, do a Google search for the site) called Autostitch. Hope this helps. |
