More accurately is Climate Change!
Bears couldnīt go hibernating in Spain because temperatures were warmer than normal.
Ski resorts in Europe had a difficult start due to lack of snow. Last year I went skiing at Lake Tahoe in the middle of April and there was a lot of snow in the area around the lake, go figure. And now in the middle of Winter we donīt have enough snow on the top of our mountains (3 of the tallest ones in the continent)

So true. My Sister and her husband live in the Tahoe area and he had a great time skiing last year. This year he is chomping his nails wondering when they will have all of that fresh powder again. Our local ski resort has nothing but a bunch of man made ice right now. Local school ski trips have been cancelled due to lack of snow.

That Phil always does such a great job. He declares for an early spring, and we are now having our first measurable snowfall of the season!

To the tune of JINGLE BELLS

Punxsutawn, Punxsutawn, Punxsutawney PHILLLLLL
You were sleeping oh, so sound
Underneath that hill, hey!
Punxsutawn, Punxsutawn, We hope your shadow's nillllll
Or winter will go on and on
WHAT a gloomy day, hey!
Dashing through your burrow
To avoid the press;
All those silly men
In top hats, tails and vests!
They haul your fatass out,
And wave you all around,
This is one great big, fat old hog
Who'd rather stay in the ground, Ohhhhhhh.....
Wiarton, Wiarton, Wiartonnnnnnn Willie (he's the Canadian groundhog)
Please don't see your shadow 'cause
We're already too chil---ly!
Wiarton, Wiarton, Wiartonnnnn Willie,
Let's move to another tune,
This one's just too sil---ly!

According to an article in the local paper; Groundhog Day was originally "hedgehog day". When they came to the new world there were apparently no
hedgehogs to be found so the ground hog was used. A local hedgehog here in upstate NY also predicted an early spring. I'm hoping they are both right.

I'm also really bummed that I missed all three showings on local cable of "Groundhog Day". One of the best movies ever. Guess I'll drag out the DVD tonight.
