When Playa del Carmen becomes like every other american town then it is time to look further down the coast for the new Playa.
I agree it was tough to see a Burger King on 5th. Capitalism rules the world! However, my kids will be happy in november knowing it is there.

I walked up to 5th every day to bring my lovely wife a cup of Starbucks (cuz you don't wanna meet her before she's had her morning coffee). On our last day, mine tasted bland, like run of the mill Dunkin Donuts pee. I ended up dumping it out it was so pathetic. My wife's was the same, but I didn't dump hers for obvious reasons.

Even the chairman of starbucks is afraid that starbucks shops "no longer have the soul of the past, and reflect a chain of stores vs the warm feeling of a neighbohood store" from www.nytimes.com/2007/02/24/business/24coffee.html I guess that self-realization is a step toward recovery.

Compared to the coffee that we roast and grind at home, Starb*cks is pretty sad, and expensive.

Seems like there might be a market niche for a coffee roasting business there. . .

Actually there already is a coffee roasting business in Playa. Excellent coffee for a reasonable price. I am told he supplies Java Joes with their coffee, perhaps some of the other coffee places as well. Well worth seeking out.

Look for this building just off Constituyentes past hwy 307.

You should have given a try at the nearby Cafe Sasta, they have better coffee and tastier pàstries than Starbucks and for half the price at least.

God help us and PdC. I don't even drink coffee. And I have no desire to hit BK or the Golden Arches even in the States. Cafe Corozan on the north end of town has phenomeal "b*tch repellant", as my sis'in law calls it and, if one needs a bit of fast food, Aco Los Tacos and Pizza Paza are far better alternatives to our Northern chains!

Six years ago I had to really search for a cup of coffee for my wife before 7am in PDC. So sad that things have changed so much.
