All these predictions are based on computer models with a set of input assumptions on a macro level. The levels of increase that you are talking about have to be on the third of forth deviation from the mean. That is assuming that the model reflects reality. In looking at relatively recent human history, the global temp was about 2-3 C above what it is now in the 10th century. That allowed a thriving wine industry in England, a huge population increase in central Asia (remember the Mongols) and Greenland was GREEN (remember the Vikings). There were no huge changes in the mean sea level.

At this point I would argue that there is no true scientific or historical data for you to base an argument on. Did sea levels go down during the Ice Age? Yes, but there was one BIG mother sheet of ice that reached into the Midwest and that was only a 120 foot decline. So Roni, where is your 40' rise of water coming from when we dont have one mother big ice sheet that streches from the North Pole to St Louis? Ice on water will not cause a rise in the mean level when it melts and I dont see a huge sheet of ice of epic proportions to melt outside of Antartica. BTW, that one will not melt unless the A vacations in the tropics.

I am so sorry jeffandbecky,
You need to provide references to buttress your position. That is how science is, particularly when you take on the overwhelming majority of scientists. If you want to kill the king, you must have overwhelming power.

So far you got nothing.

That being said this should be good to stir the pot.

Global warming by humans today is the nuclear winter of the 80's. Bulls**t beyond comprehension. The earth is getting hotter because the sun is getting hotter (number one cause of global warming). All human production of green house gas (number 9) is way behind the gas produced by termites (number 5 or 6) and it would take one good volcanic eruption (number 8) to dwarf human activity. As for rising ocean levels, get as wide a container as possible. Fill it half way with water then add ice so that the ice is still floating and mark the level of the water. When the ice melts check the level again. If physics is right then the level will be the same. One of my first rules in political activism that I teach is to never read your side's propaganda rags, read the other sides rags.

BTW, if you have the chance to go to Florence, its a GREAT city!

Well, well, well, look at what we got here? Absolute, categorical, imperative language, is this the bibble belt? The fundamental creationist's credo?

Oh, did you say political activist? Had me confused with one of them southern 'revivalists' for a second, but the thought dissipated just as quickly upon running over the reference to physics and political activism,... very, very odd couple indeed.

As for your categorical hierarchy of 'faithful' factors precipitating climate change, reason for the initial confusion as to your actual vocational calling, it is so entangled with such omniscient bull**** that it dispenses even the most elementary rebuttal.

However, and for your own sake, I would suggest that you contact some experts in the field you portend to claim absolute certainty over and dare convince them of the reliability and validity of your omniscient certitude.

Once you have mastered that simple task, then I'll seriously consider arguing with you on the merits of the theories/natural/divine laws that you may care to advance.

Anything short of that and I'll refer you to the solitary bit of wisdom you invoked: Its best not to argue with fools or you might be mistaken for one.

BTW here's a series of folks addressing the sun's influence on climate that you may want to consider commiserating with and persuading, and please don't be taken aback by the sensationalist medium/media:

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, comprising top international scientists, issued a dire report that confirms the world’s climate is warming, human activities have contributed significantly and the trend will “continue for centuries.

Present
• It is “unequivocal” that the world’s climate is warming -- average air and ocean temperatures and sea levels are rising and the melting of the planet’s snow and ice is widespread.

• It is “likely” -- “more likely than not” in some cases -- that manmade greenhouse gases have contributed to hotter days and nights, and more of them; more killer heat waves than before; heavier rainfall more often, major droughts in more regions, stronger and more frequent cyclones and “increased incidence” of extremely high sea levels.

Future
• If greenhouse gas emissions continue at or above today’s rate, they will “very likely” cause bigger changes in the world’s climate system in the 21st century than they did in the 20th century.

• The panel’s estimate for the range of rises in average global temperatures by 2100 is 1.8 to 4 degrees Celsius (3.2 to 7.1 degrees Fahrenheit).

• Warmer temperatures and rising sea levels will continue for centuries even if greenhouse gas concentrations are stabilized.

Look at all these tasty bits of astrological wisdom that I've been missing. Is this what they teach the good folk in Sunday school? I'm missing on all the fun. Maybe the southern gentleman across the aisle might enlighten us as to how the ritual really goes.

And if you think that palm trees will be growing in Antarctica because of global warming then your reality is very different from the rest of us.
Conceited fellow indeed.

BTW Where is the Arctic region in this pathetic equation?

May I ask what you're on?

The greatest increase in environmental activism in the USA is coming from evangelical Christians. They are starting to take seriously biblical injunctions to be good stewards of the natural world. They are doing grass roots things, working in recycling programs, clean-ups of natural areas - and these new imperatives they are finding are entering into their political decision-making.

Makes it kind of tough on the rape-and-plunder-the-environment posture of many political candidates.

Well Stewart,

You have to say that I stirred the pot and had a Great time doing it! Pulled each point right out of talk radio and got them name calling in nothing flat. God bless a good joke.
