And I'll take the vast left-wing conspiracy for 5,000, Alex.

I can't even begin to imagine the payroll the VLWC must have. It's... well, it's unimagineable.

Hasn't the earth been warming since the ice age? As far as weather goes in Texas...it's been unpredicatble since the early explorers. Sometimes we have winter..like this year and sometimes we don't. Worst hurricane was in 1900 or so in Galveston. Nothing lasts forever.

Gee.. I wonder if all those jet planes to Cancun are polluting the atsmosphere?

Personally I'm hoping for a slightly more positive or pro-active take on the issue, myself! For my kids if not for me.

But on the previous point, maybe liberals haven't won the Presidency as often as they'd like recently because they're spending everything in their war chests to keep the VLWC afloat instead of getting their candidates elected...

Whatever you guys are saying, it's frankly nothing short of astonishing that people can, without even thinking twice about it, dismiss with a wave of their hands and by citing an example of two evidently straight out of their 8th grade science class the findings of an international group of scientists and researchers who have reviewed exhaustive data from their colleagues from around the globe and who then come up and say, again for example, something as startlingly decisive as

"The evidence for warming having happened on the planet is unequivocal. We can see that in rising air temperatures, we can see it in changes in snow cover in the Northern Hemisphere. We can see it in global sea rise. It's unequivocal."
You know, I'm not a dumb guy, but I couldn't begin to match wits with these folks, most especially in the areas they specialize in and have advanced degrees in and years and years of experience in. And I wouldn't presume to. You guys find it easy, though, to knock 'em off just like that. It boggles me. One wonders why you're spending your time posting on forums online rather than refuting these guys in acaedemic conferences or government policy planning sessions, if indeed you are possessed of such knowledge and understanding of the issue. Seriously! I mean, spouting personal opinions on politics or whatever, sure, 'cause everybody's got opinions. But tearing down mountains of scientific evidence, and in so cavalier a fashion -- that's really something!

not exactly, water run-off from land masses certainly contributes to a rise in water levels, but you have to factor in the water cycle there as well. Soil erosion is a bottom line factor and is a huge concern for people in the environmental fields, because once it enters a watershed collection point, it does not come out except through mechanical means.....imagine the dredging process to remove the Mississippee delta, or correcting the displacement of ocean level by those heartless Netherlanders (sorry TeeZet). Erosion controls are a huge part of my job and the watershed protection inspectors can be a real pain in the ass for a contractor and project developer...........but luckily Jacko, I'm gettin ready to push my environmental talents nationwide.....coming soon to a market near you
