Any other "test tube" parents on the board?

My son, Iain, is a "test tube" baby. Not only was he conceived via in vitro fertilization, they actually used the ICSI technique (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection). What does that mean, you ask? Well, it means that an embryologist took one of KelliG's harvested ovum and snagged (with a very, very, very small glass pipette) one of my sperm, and MANUALLY inserted my sperm into KelliG's egg, then reimplanted the embryo into her at the blastocyst stage. That is to say, the sperm and the egg that were used to make my most precious "little guy" were manually picked out by a fellow human.

Truly, in every sense of the word, an absolute miracle of modern medicine. Look:

So I was wondering - are there any other test tube parents out there in playa.info land?

No babes here! and not even a test tube can help me! ( haven't got the right parts anymore) however my parents have friends who had one of the first test tube babies born in Canada - This was in the 80's sometime. Its great that you and Kelli were able to start a famly this way. How did your daughter come to be, if that's not too forward a question fer ya!?

And Stew I love HC as well...best i ever had was when we picked up 4 kilos and took it all to Casa Cenote and Scott and Gary grilled it right there for about 20 of our favorite peeps...That was a great day!!!

Long story short - Iain was conceived via IVF and ICSI because my "sperm count" was about 3% of normal. My low sperm count was idiopathic - that is we did not know why. When we were ready to go for another baby, we retested and I had spontaneously regenerated to about 50% of normal - WELL within limits for a "normal" conception. And Adrienne was conceived... Well, the old fashioned way!

To this day we don't know why I "recovered" that way, but I think it has to do with weight loss and exercise.

In any event, I have been blessed with two lovely babies, one by science and one the "old fashioned" way! Both miracles, in their own way!
