Favorite Great Lake & Vacation Spot
What's your favorite great lake? Also, is there a favorite place you vacation on one of the lakes. Ours is Lake Michigan. We love to visit Grand Haven, and Traverse City. Great beaches. I can't leave out Macinaw Island on Lake Huron. The kids love that place.

I've only been to Superior and Michigan. Since I'm from Chicago, I have to say it's Lake Michigan, especially looking back at the sky line from out on the lake and also Lake Michigan up at Algoma and Door County!

I have two favorites!! Looking out to Lake Michigan from the W hotel in Chicago. I had the pleasure of staying there a few years back and just happened to look out the window just as the fireworks went off at Navy Pier. Soooo cool!!
But, I also fondly remember a family trip we took from out cabin in Hayward to the Apostle Islands in Lake Superior. Simply breathtaking!! |

I was there one year when they did a fireworks show off of Navy Pier, it was awesome...one of the best fireworks shows I've seen.

Love the North Shore of MN. Spent a week there last fall.
Duluth Chicago Kohler Andre State Park on Lake Michigan, is my (secret beach) Apostle Islands, spent part of our honeymoon on Madeline Island Pictured Rocks State park Lake shore drive, Milwaukee. Check out Pieces of Eight in the summer time. Have a drink on their patio and watch the sail boats. Any place in Door County Last edited by Starfish; 02-04-2007 at 11:55 AM. |

My heart is on the shores of Lake Huron, Ontario's West Coast, specifically at Bayfield, the village where my ancestors settled and where we had a summer cottage for years and years. The beach is sandy, the sunsets fabulous. Unfortunately, there are now a lot of "shoppes" selling tacky or overpriced non-necessities these days, but the chestnut trees still frame Main Street (and now I know I'm allergic to them
).
