Did you make any changes at all in the past couple of weeks, and especially between the last successful boot up and the problem? Changes include adding any hardware for the first time, even if you disconnected it afterward; adding any new software; updating any software (even if it did it automatically and just let you know); etc. If so, let us know.
Try what lexiconmike suggested, and if that fails try again and this time choose to boot to safe mode. If you can get into safe mode but still cannot regularly boot, let us know.
